Full-Time Teaming Director

The role

Teaming is SYPartners version of Resource Management, working in partnership with team leads across our five consulting areas: Strategy, Design, Studio Design, Program Management, and Digital/UX. Reporting to the VP, Business Operations, Resource Planning and Operations, the Teaming Director will lead day-to-day Teaming for our New York and San Francisco offices.

The work you’ll do

  • At a high level, you will be entrusted with the system view of consulting staffing across the firm.
  • You will understand where our consultants are engaged across a portfolio of client projects, while dispersed geographically across multiple time zones.
  • Pairing that with the monitoring of potential projects—client, internal, and pro bono—you’ll provide a map through tools and communication from which Teaming’s business partners will navigate.
  • You’ll be responsible for monitoring and flagging capacity constraints both short- and long-term.
  • You will carry multiple interdependent and sometimes conflicting capacity scenarios simultaneously.
  • You will drive to solve problems, balancing with the wisdom of prioritization and timing.
  • On a regular basis, you’ll share with our upper leadership a variety of Teaming forecasts.
  • On a weekly cadence, you will be responsible for updating and maintaining the tools, systems, and integrity of information team leads will use to make Teaming decisions.
  • You’ll convene Teaming conversations with a range of appropriate stakeholders across all levels of the organization.

Desired experience and skills

  • 6+ years experience in a related career such as Resource Management, Producer, Studio Management, or Program Management background.
  • Experience working in a creative agency or consultancy a plus.
  • Experience with project budgets, staffing budgets, or similar financial planning.
  • Experience contracting, directly or through an acquisition team or partners, freelancers and contractors. Particular experience with licensing and usage rights contracts a plus.
  • Familiar with 10,000ft Plans resourcing tool or similar system.
  • Working knowledge of Google Sheets and/or Microsoft Excel, along with Google Suite of office tools.
  • Impeccable attention to detail.
  • Systems thinker.
  • Great at building relationships and collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams and leaders.
  • Comfortable engaging across multiple levels of the organization, from senior to intern
  • Drawn to ambiguity and energized by helping others see the path forward.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations, information, and conversations with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Experienced in evaluating data to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges.
  • Has the ability to (and is adept at) set/setting up systems that ensure sustainable operational excellence, including but not limited to capturing and driving selected paths forward for iteration and historical posterity.
