Healing Justice is a small, dynamic, and rapidly growing national nonprofit organization that uses restorative justice and justice reform to address the individual and collective harm caused by wrongful convictions. We serve all who have been directly harmed in these cases: crime victims, survivors, and their families, as well as the innocent who were wrongly convicted and their families. We also offer programs for others affected by these cases: jurors, judges, police, prosecutors, victim advocates, and other justice and social service providers. The specialist will provide trauma-informed care and support to individuals and groups by assisting with effective program planning and resource development. In this role, the specialist will help to expand our Healing Programs by increasing our individual and group peer support offerings, developing mental health and wellness tools and resources, and supporting restorative justice activities at both the national and local levels. Additionally, the specialist will be assigned to assist in various ways with federally funded and privately funded grant projects. This position will report to Healing Justice’s director of healing programs.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience working directly with crime victims and survivors and providing victim services. Experience serving marginalized communities is also a plus.
  • Working knowledge of the criminal legal system and impacts on crime victims and survivors, including victim services and victims’ rights.
  • Trauma-informed training and the ability to help develop trauma-informed approaches in all aspects of Healing Justice’s work.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for Healing Justice’s mission, work, and clients.
  • Ability to travel and work “after hours” as needed.

KEY COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability to work independently while also being able to collaborate effectively with other team members.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • A professional and collaborative work ethic, a good sense of humor, and the ability to maintain grace under pressure.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

This is a full-time, partially grant-funded (3-year) position. The salary is $60,000-65,000. Candidates seeking a part-time position will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Healing Justice offers a competitive and generous benefits package, including health insurance, generous PTO, 401k match, and flexible work hours. Healing Justice provides a work environment that encourages health and self-care.
