Job Description

This remote position is open to candidates in the US Eastern or Central Time Zone (GMT-6, GMT-5) who are currently enrolled in high school or college.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

GenderCool’s Social Media Intern reports to the Social Media Manager and contributes to the organization’s needs through social media and administrative support. The Social Media Intern should have a desire to be part of a rapidly-growing social movement, fueled by the young people whom we call the GenderCool Champions.

Applications must be submitted by 10 PM CT on Friday, May 19, 2023 to be considered for the role. Late applications will be considered as needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Social Media

  • Assist in monitoring GenderCool social media platforms
  • Perform minor photo and video editing projects 
  • Design simple graphics utilizing Canva
  • Collaborate in brainstorming evergreen social content 
  • Aid with filming and photography
  • Monitor trends in social media content and design

Administrative

  • Manage and organize photo and video files in Dropbox
  • Assist with preparing for and managing events
  • Other administrative duties as assigned

Skills & Requirements:

  • Understanding of LGTBQ+ community, specifically the transgender community
  • Adaptable – able to work/operate on the fly
  • Effective communicator with strong writing skills and demonstrated attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Collaborative, communicative, and kind spirited
  • Be deeply dedicated to GenderCool’s mission and campaign goals
  • Own a computer and feel comfortable working remotely
  • Available to work 10 hours a week on a regular schedule
  • Must be located in Eastern or Central Time Zone (GMT-6, GMT-5)
  • Must be currently enrolled in high school, college, or equivalent program

Role Parameters

  • Remote part-time summer intern (8-10 weeks)
  • Estimated Time Requirement: 10 hours per week
  • Ideal start date: June 2023
  • Must be located in Eastern or Central Time Zone (GMT-6, GMT-5)
