Full-Time Sr. Associate, Accounting

Job Description

The Senior Accountant conducts transactional activities and work closely with the BPO. Contributes and ensures proper and effective administrative, financial, and asset management, in compliance with existing fiscal and civil regulations, as well as with specific company policies and accounting principles. Manages several processes independently within framework, while steering BPO resources who pick up operational tasks. Oversees limited complex transactions, works independently with general supervision, and has limited judgements to make.

Period-end closing and reporting A2R (Ensure):

  • Define and create Journal Entries for all US entities
  • Perform Internal Controls duties
  • Validation of all period-end closing events for R&D and Non-FTE Ferring Companies; Intercompany reconciliations, 3rd Party Actuals validation, Lease Accounting, Year-end closing events
  • Closure of relevant sub-ledgers
  • Timely submission of tasks and in Blackline
  • Timely submission of sub-ledger and account reconciliations in Blackline

Treasury management (Ensure):

  • Cash reconciliation process
  • Perform loading and reconciling bank statements, plus all cash-related activities.

Fixed Assets Accounting (Ensure):

  • Processing all FA accounting entries.
  • Overseeing and reviewing the FA period-end closing process for all US entities.
  • Process all asset creations and disposals

Period end closing and reporting A2R (Carry Out):

  • Primary Accountant for R&D and Non-FTE Ferring Companies
  • Submission of all period-end closing events
  • Perform analytical reviews
  • Perform Internal Controls
  • Define Journal Entries – prepare ad-hoc MJE’s and ad-hoc Account Reconciliations that are out of the scope of BPO
  • Provide management and accounting support for all other FHI entities, in your areas of expertise.
  • Approval of tasks in Blackline
  • Approval of sub-ledger and account reconciliations in Blackline

Payroll Accounting Process (Carry Out, Back-ups):

  • Prepare all MJE’s to record bi-weekly payroll & monthly payroll accruals for FHI legal entities with headcount
  • Collaborate with FP&A team
  • Approve all payroll-related tasks and reconciliations in Blackline
  • Internal controls surrounding Payroll accounting, include bank reconciliations

Projects and improvements (Carry Out):

  • Support HQ/Corporate Finance in the implementation of corporate Finance programs, processes or procedures which are to be locally applied.
  • Contribute to performance management and drive continuous improvement initiatives e.g. propose standardized and coordinated use of financial information systems, identify and propose optimization measures

Compliance and integrity (Carry Out):

  • Strict implementation and adherence to internal guidelines, instructions, processes and systems, local as well as global
  • Strict adherence to the US fiscal- and finance-related regulations, by independently communicating with internal and external auditors in her areas of expertise.
  • Risk management: Inform relevant parties timely on potential issues, assess the risks and propose corrective measures

Collaboration (Carry Out):

  • Collaborate with SDM’s to ensure smooth service delivery
  • Collaborate with GPO to work on continuous process improvements
  • Collaborate with BPO to ensure a smooth relationship and a seamless delivery of the in-scope finance activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business Administration
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Finance
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with many accounting and reporting principles and processes
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with teams, on- and off shore
  • An analytical mindset and solve basic problems independently
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills, being able to work with both management and employees in the organization
  • Work independently with the ability to influence multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to work in decentralized finance structure
  • Professional business English (oral and written) as well as local language as required
