About the Organization:
SHC a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Washtenaw County, Michigan that provides social services to survivors who are currently experiencing or have previously experienced domestic violence (DV) or sexual assault (SA). SafeHouse Center’s mission is to provide safety, support, advocacy, and resources for all that are impacted by DV or SA and to work relentlessly to change the systems and attitudes that allow abuse to continue.
SafeHouse Center recognizes that those who are most vulnerable are in situations where power relations are unevenly balanced, and typically women and children are at risk. Even so, anyone regardless of gender, ethnicity, race, sexuality, age, etc. may experience domestic violence and/or sexual assault, and SHC approaches providing services to survivors from an intersectional and identity-sensitive approach.
