Position Summary: Reporting to the Executive Director, the Sr. Manager of Development is a member of the center’s leadership team ensuring inter department collaboration with programs, finance, operations, and administration. Based on a thorough understanding of grassroots fundraising, annual giving, grants management, corporate sponsorship, corporate and foundation relations, capital fundraising, this position is responsible for overseeing fundraising operations and ensuring developmental growth in line with professional fundraising standards, audit requirements, grant requirements, and organizational policies.
The Director will work collaboratively as part of a team to ensure our mission, vision and values are aligned with their work. It will be important that the position holds a thorough understanding of the center’s history.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement strategic initiatives relative to resource/fund development.
- Build, maintain and cultivate relationships with foundation and corporate grant makers.
- Create and manage a stewarding portfolio of 25-100 individuals with the ability to give major gifts
- Create new relationships with individuals who attend Center programming and events but do not yet donate to BSC.
- Steward new individuals into BSC donors through the attendance of external and internal events
- Identify and cultivate major, planned and blended gifts for BSC through new and existing donors
- Responsible for all aspects of resource development including major gifts, foundations and corporate giving and corporate sponsorship.
- Establish and reach annual fundraising goals in cooperation with the Executive Director and Sr Events Manager
- Track development trends and innovations, and oversee donor goals, acknowledgement program and maintain up to date donor records in donor database.
- Actively promote monthly donor program, major donor program and legacy donor program ensure information is included in the weekly newsletter.
- Follow up with donors; provide them with timely information and/or progress reports on supported projects
- Work with Marketing and Communications to create donor communications for new annual fund campaigns
- Assist in the planning and execution of all agency fundraising and events (12 days of giving, Giving Tuesday, Gala, Pride, etc.). To include the implementation of a donor appreciation/recognition event.
- Work with ED to cultivate relationships with Board members and develop a Board fundraising plan and goals.
- Oversee Grant & Funding Specialist this includes.
- Collaborating with departments to identify fundable projects fitting BSC strategies;
- Consult with departments on grant research, proposal development and project management;
- Assist with the writing, editing and critiquing proposal drafts;
- Ensure the timely completion of all grant applications within the grants calendar;
- Cultivate relationships with foundations;
- Create and maintain required reporting to funding sources on the status of projects and the appropriation and use of funds;
- Create grant development resources for the organization and educate staff members about grants.
- Hold Grant Implementation meetings with internal stakeholders.
- Help the finance team with audit, tax statements, monthly reconciliations & any other team project(s) as needed
- Implement improved/efficient systems, policies and materials for all development efforts.
- Ensure interaction between programs within the organization.
- Oversee donor and corporate relations sections of the website including special campaigns and donation pages.
- Attend Board meetings as assigned by the ED.
- Accountable for measurable outcomes for the center’s budget.
Qualifications and Characteristics
- Proven track record of setting goals and raising philanthropic dollars in each of the key areas as described in the job description
- Comfort, knowledge, and expertise using Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Drive, etc.)
- Strong analytical skills, as well as the ability to archive and track critical information
- Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, and be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively and efficiently
Requirements
- Non-profit experience in a managerial role.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or commensurate years of experience with a proven track record may exempt degree.
- Demonstrated expertise in fundraising, general development and planned giving
- Understanding of the programmatic and development needs for an LGBT Community Center.
- Ability to think strategically and “out of the box” to create effective fundraising campaigns.
- Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police, and FBI criminal background checks are required for this position.
- Prior experience in engaging historically underrepresented and marginalized communities including LGBTQ+ community members and those living with HIV
- Position requires use of agency vehicle and/or personal vehicle or access to independent transportation.
Preferences
- Spanish-language spoken, and written proficiency is preferred, but not required
Benefits/Compensation
This full-time position offers a salary range of $55,000-$60,000. Salary offered will be commensurate with applicants experience. Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center offers rich benefits, credit union access, paid personal time, four weeks of vacation and 15 paid Holidays.
