Job Description

Job Description
As a member of the State Estimation team, you will conduct research at the intersection of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and machine perception.  You will develop cutting-edge tech that provides robust, accurate estimates of vehicle pose and surroundings at all times in virtually any environment.  Your core challenge will be creating self-improving systems that fuse state-of-the-art sensors and algorithms to keep our robots self-aware with limited compute.

What you’ll do:

    • Research and develop world-class state estimation, mapping, and artificial intelligence algorithms
    • Enhance sensor models within a state-of-the-art simulation environment
    • Work in a fast-paced, collaborative, continuous development environment, enhancing analysis, and benchmarking capabilities

Projects you might work on:

    • Develop a new sensor front-end for the state estimator. First, deeply understand the sensor model and determine how to extract as much state information and uncertainty from the sensor. Then, incorporate that information alongside other sensors to produce an accurate and consistent state estimate.

People we’re looking for have the following required education and experience

    • M.S. in Computer Science or related quantitative science
    • 2+ years of professional experience in state estimation, perception, or similar robotic field
    • Experience working in a collaborative development environment including continuous integration and delivery
    • Experience with high-bandwidth exteroceptive sensors on compute constrained systems
    • Experience prototyping a feature in a high level language like MATLAB and transitioning it to production code
    • A solid foundation in theory related to probabilistic robotics, compute vision, and signal processing
    • A demonstrated record of working hard, being a trustworthy teammate, holding yourself and others to high standards, and being kind to others
    • Familiarity with high-fidelity simulation and sensor modeling (preferred)

Competencies

    • C++
    • ROS
    • MATLAB
    • Python
    • Embedded or GPGPU systems
