Full-Time Senior Associate, Paralegal

Job Description

  • Manage required licensures with various state boards, departments, and other regulatory organization entities. Identify requirements and coordinate and collect necessary information from other Ferring departments and personnel to maintain registrations. Become familiar with CSC and other platforms to track relevant filing and expiration dates.
  • Initiate and maintain legal holds as directed by litigation counsel, including collecting responses and providing answers to questions related to such holds.
  • Oversee and manage, subject to direction from litigation counsel, document collection in response to subpoenas and litigation matters. Manage maintenance of litigation files. Assemble and review productions for transmission to external legal counsel.
  • Assist Legal Department in the support of other members of the Senior Management Team in Parsippany.
  • Promote efficiency and effectiveness within the Legal organization while partnering with global Legal Operations and local legal team members to understand processes/workflows and consistently look for opportunities to improve / enhance processes, find efficiencies, think outside the box, and develop recommendations for process improvement strategies that enable the Legal Department to efficiently execute its day-to-day operations.
  • Support activities and special projects and work with the Legal Operations team in the preparation and review of various operational reports, metric tracking, dashboards, and scorecards.
  • Partner with the Legal Operations Specialist in Lisbon to provide contract management system support on routine activities, including being the key point of contact for US users and actively participate in the continuous improvement of the icertis contract management system.

Qualifications

  • Paralegal Certificate Required or equivalent experience
  • Preferred minimum of 3-5 years related experience as a legal paraprofessional for national business entity
  • Knowledge of litigation processes (e.g., litigation holds, document collection, file management)
  • Knowledge of relevant types of contracts and contract law principles preferred, but not required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with internal customers, external contacts, and colleagues
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to map processes and accomplish tasks within agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions
  • Forward-thinking and Continuous improvement mindset with ability to plan effectively for future needs with a process-minded orientation.
  • Able to work independently to complete tasks and respond to department requests and to collaborate with others to identify solutions
  • Excellent follow-up skills; ability to organize applicable department timelines and follow up with internal and external customers.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and specifically the ability to create pivot tables and spreadsheets for data tracking; proficiency with Excel, Word and PowerPoint preferred
