We are looking for a highly motivated Scientist (Synthetic/Organic Chemistry) to join our team!

 

The successful candidate will play a key role in the development of our company’s core chemistry. The candidate combines a strong synthetic chemistry background, understanding of analytical methods and instrument operation, interpretation of analytical data, and responsibility for delivering robust and scalable synthesis workflows. How You’ll Contribute

  • Plan and execute synthetic experiments involving: synthesis, characterization, and scale-up of modified nucleotides, oligonucleotides, peptides, and fluorescent dye conjugates.
  • Documentation of synthetic experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and presentation of results.
  • Operation and maintenance of laboratory & analytical instruments.
  • Collaborate with a wide spectrum of scientists & engineers on joint projects, and support R&D.

 

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • B.S (8 or more years), M.S. (4 or more years), or Ph.D. (0 – 4 years industry experience) in chemistry or organic chemistry.
  • Proven track record in hands-on multi-step organic synthesis.
  • Strong understanding of organic reaction mechanisms, and the ability to optimize reaction conditions based on this knowledge.
  • In-depth understanding and hands-on experience with purification methods, including HPLC (analytical and preparative) and flash chromatography, and analytical methods including MS, TLC, and UV.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and people skills are a must, as well as reliability and time management abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute independent and collaborative research projects.
  • Strong sense of urgency, can-do attitude, and motivational skills to get the best out of the co-workers.
  • Co-authorship in one or more publications in peer-reviewed scientific journal(s).
  • Experience with nucleotide, oligonucleotide, and/or fluorescent dye synthesis is preferred.
  • Experience with reactions that require involve inert, dry, low temperature conditions is preferred.
  • Experience with HPLC, MS, UV, and analytical instrument maintenance and troubleshooting is preferred.
  • Manufacturing and scale-up experience is preferred.
