Full-Time Regional Project Development Engineering Supervisor III
Job Description
- Serve as an NCDOT subject matter experts in Geomatics and Surveying.
- Contribute to establishing and implementing statewide NCDOT policies relative to geomatics engineering.
- Direct and administer significant duties/functions for a large geographical region by providing engineering judgement and administrative leadership.
- Oversee and lead coordination of projects and field activities through managing project and staff resources.
- Ensure delivery of all engineering surveys through an assigned region for all State Transportation Improvement Projects (STIP) projects and other survey activities.
- Engineering experience applying the principles and practices of Engineering and Land Surveying as defined by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors (i.e., GPS, geodesy, property law, etc.).
- Specialized geomatics engineering experience and/or program knowledge making independent and final recommendations/decisions and/or serving as a surveying subject matter expert.
- Experience directing and managing multiple geomatics operations between several field offices and/or Private Sector Engineering Firms over a large geographic region.
- Experience interpreting and communicating innovative or complex geomatics engineering design concepts and techniques in a clear, concise, and organized manner.
- Experience conducting and approving staff performance reviews, defining and implementing operational goals and objectives; addressing work processes and procedural issues, and managing staff and resources effectively to meet project delivery, operational goals, and objectives.
- Management experience supervising 3+ permanent employees, contractors, and/or consultants.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, and
- 5+ years of engineering experience, including
- 3+ years of management experience; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
- We may require registration as a professional engineer with the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
