Procurement Manager

Seattle, WA

Contract Length: 9+ months

Pay Rate: $45.00 – $53.00 / hour (DOE)

Our client, a large beverage retailer, is looking for a Procurement Manager to provide procurement expertise, project management and analytical skills to their procurement team. This individual will implement purchasing strategies that support global manufacturing, distribution channels, markets and business units. They will be responsible for a global spend of at least $200 Million, have the opportunity to manage and mentor other procurement professionals, and will have the ability to develop and produce state of the art coffee roasting facilities.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in strategic sourcing and procurement and have a solid background in analytics and managing vendor and client relationships. They will have an understanding of multi-year negotiation strategies, lean initiatives and knowledge of the global sourcing market.

Procurement Manager Responsibilities:

Sourcing Strategy:

  • Effectively develop and lead global sourcing strategies, effectively manage suppliers and internal networks to deliver best in class performance for the relevant spend area.
  • Consistently deliver measurable and strategic goals to enable a competitive advantage to bottom-line and top-line company growth, and corporate social responsibility leadership.
  • Effectively collaborate internally and with suppliers.
  • Develop effective multiyear negotiation strategies to enable success.
  • Lead highly complex, global cross functional sourcing teams.

Supplier Engagement and Management:

  • Employ strong knowledge of key global industry players, competitors and market dynamics.
  • Develop new effective business and professional relationships with strategic suppliers and industry players.
  • Professionally manage and measure suppliers for continuous performance and improvement.

Cross-Functional Projects:

  • Employ advanced program and project management tools, solutions and techniques while sourcing for coffee roastery equipment.
  • Effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Independently solve problems and make decisions for primary and strategic execution and tactical issues within the relevant portfolio of projects and or processes.
  • Provide day to day oversight and perform a hands-on execution role.
  • Leadership and Teamwork: effectively motivate and collaborate within team and across peer group.
  • Operate within peer group and leadership infrastructure to ensure that best practice and leverage opportunities are delivered.

Procurement Manager Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Strategic sourcing/procurement experience (5+ years).
  • Ability to manage multi-capital projects in various stages of execution (pre-planning, scope development, contracting/negotiation, kick off, execution, escalation).
  • Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities.
  • Experience in Food/Beverage manufacturing or another comparable industry is preferred.
  • Understands Contract Negotiations & Supplier Relationship Management for Capital Equipment or Mid-Large Industrial Construction projects (with $5-20M budgets).
  • Systems: Ariba (Supplier Management, Contracting, Buying, and Invoicing Modules) and Oracle (Supplier management, Purchasing modules).
