Join our collaborative team to meet and respond to the diverse human resource needs of the early years’ sector in the Waterloo Region through a journey of continuous professional growth and development.

 

The School of Community Services, ECE Professional Resource Centre is seeking a qualified professional to guide and mentor those working in the early years’ community to align their programs and practices with local and provincial pedagogy within the context of equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Although many of our employees are currently working remotely, this position is governed by the applicable legislation of the Province of Ontario. Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required.

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creating and implementing professional development needs assessment within the community
  • Identifying national, provincial and local trends that contribute to quality early years’ programs
  • Creating a priority plan for continuous professional learning activities that align with national, provincial, and local directives of equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Aligning professional learning activities with provincial and local directives, diversity, equity and inclusive initiatives and early years’ quality standards
  • Creating and implementing professional learning activities that align with national, provincial, and local directives of equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Communicating and collaborate with early years’ leaders in the Waterloo Region
  • Creating and implementing various professional learning activities (i.e. workshops, symposiums, learning series)
  • Creating and leading communities of practice
  • Guiding and mentoring educators working in early years’ programs in Waterloo Region
  • Leveraging expertise in diversity, equity and inclusion to source and advise on guest speakers, panelists, and resources for diversity, equity and inclusion awareness, and recognition
  • sharing information about the activities and programs of the ECE PRC
  • collaborating with faculty and program teams across the college to inform professional development plan and activities
  • communicating respectfully and collaboratively while upholding confidentiality and professional standards
  • providing consultation and support when invited
  • participate on community committees when invited
  • Collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts to develop and implement professional learning that prioritizes and expands equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Minimum two-year Diploma in Early Childhood Education
  • Five years of practical experience working directly with children, families, and the early learning sector; at least two of which must be focused on supporting the professional learning of individuals supporting diverse populations and in initiatives focused on equity, diversity, and inclusion in pedagogical practice
  • RECE must be in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
  • Experience in supporting the professional learning and development of adults
  • Experience with research is an asset
  • Experience developing and implementing professional learning that prioritizes and expands equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives is an asset
  • Excellent communication and computer skills
  • Fluency in French is an asset
  • Established relationships with the early learning sector in Waterloo Region is an asset
