Clark College is currently accepting applications for a part-time, permanent classified 9-month cyclic, Instruction and Classroom Support Technician 1 in the Baking department. This position is expected to work 17-hour per week Monday through Thursday. This position is responsible for working with faculty to support students’ education, lab work, food safety, work safety, sanitation, and communication.

Position Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Work with students in lab to ensure adherence to demonstrated skills.
  • Create and maintain a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Work collaboratively with the Professional Baking and Cuisine Programs.
  • Participate in weekly department meetings.
  • Scale and prepare baking demonstrations for faculty
  • Act as a steward of college resources.
  • Support students during lab work
  • Understand and enforce McClaskey Culinary Institute food safety policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:
Candidates will be evaluated based on application materials, including the supplemental questions and personal interview(s), and will be required to demonstrate competencies in the following areas:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND five (5) years of experience in an industrial, commercial or institutional baking experience OR equivalent education and experience.
  • Valid State of Washington Food Handlers Card.

JOB READINESS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
  • The initial appointment will include a 6-month probationary period and the employee will earn permanent status after successfully completing probation.
  • This position is represented by Washington Public Employees Association.
  • Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the position.

 
SALARY RANGE: $18.93-$25.20/hour. | Range: 39 | Code: 255M
Successful candidates typically start at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases.
