As the Oracle System Administrator – Fusion Cloud, you will be responsible for performing the daily administration and upkeep of Oracle Fusion Cloud applications (ERP, SCM, HCM) and related pillars and modules (e.g., EPM, PPM). This includes duties like managing user accounts, monitoring and maintaining system performance, configuring new services and features, configuring security best practices, resolving problems, and making sure the Oracle Fusion Cloud environments that serve the Town of Cary, runs smoothly.

Anticipated Hiring Range:$100,000 – $110,000
- User Administration:
- Creating, modifying, and deleting user accounts, manage identity and access management within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Oracle Fusion Cloud (ERP, SCM, HCM), and other related Oracle applications.
- Assigning appropriate roles and security profiles to users based on business requirements.
- System Monitoring:
- Continuously monitoring Oracle Fusion Cloud applications and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) for performance issues, resource utilization, and potential errors, identifying and resolving problems proactively.
- Maintain awareness of various Oracle service and security announcements and communications; inform management of potential impacts and make recommendations for actions needed or use discretion to make critical changes when appropriate and consistent with Cary policies.
- Identity Management:
- Implementing and maintaining robust security policies on Oracle systems, including user authentication, data encryption, and access controls.
- Develop and maintain Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) identity-based access administration if applicable to Cary’s implementation strategy.
- Release Management:
- Support the smooth deployment of quarterly updates with minimal disruption.
- Maintain system stability and performance post-update.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory changes incorporated into the updates.
- Align with best practices for testing, approval, and post-release support.
- Application Configuration:
- Update system parameters, lookups, and profile options within the Oracle Fusion Cloud applications.
- Configure application settings and workflows within ERP (Financials), SCM, HCM, and related Oracle components, to meet Cary requirements for financial structures, data management, and system controls.
- Configure and maintain Business Process Management (BPM) workflows.
- Implement minor customizations and data mapping as needed.
- Monitor integrations and work with others to troubleshoot issues related to integrated platforms.
- Maintain awareness of industry best practices and develop and make recommendations to improve functionality, security and reliability of the Oracle Fusion Cloud applications.
- Application support for end-user issues, requests and problems
- Environment Management:
- Monitor and maintain all Oracle Fusion Cloud environments. Coordinate the appropriate use of lower environments for development and testing.
- Support Fusion Cloud-related projects, including migrations and upgrades.
- Ensure smooth implementations and deployments of new services and features.
- Partner with IT infrastructure, network, and security teams on related initiatives.
- Support change management for Oracle applications.
- Data Mapping:
- Monitor data quality and perform data cleansing activities.
- Execute data import and export processes as required, including bulk data loads using HDL Data Loader or other tools.
- Investigate and resolve data discrepancies.
- Troubleshooting:
- Diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to Oracle applications and system configuration.
- Collaborate with other staff and business teams to resolve application and configuration issues.
- Coordinate with Oracle Support, managed services partners, and other vendors to identify and resolve complex issues.
- Documentation:
- Maintaining comprehensive documentation of system configurations, user guides, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Capacity Planning:
- Monitor and assess future system requirements and collaborate with other teams (e.g., infrastructure, database engineering, etc.) to plan for future hardware or software needs.
- Performs other job-related tasks as required.
- Work is generally done during normal business hours but will periodically occur outside of normal business hours (i.e., during quarterly releases or system outages). Occasional on-call availability may be required.
- Collaborate with and support the work of Oracle functional and technical team members.
- Working Knowledge of Database in the Oracle Fusion Cloud platform:
- Understanding of Oracle database concepts like SQL, PL/SQL, data structures, and performance optimization techniques in Oracle Fusion Cloud applications and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
- Cross-module experience, including Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Human Capital Management (HCM), and Supply Chain Management (SCM).
- Networking Fundamentals:
- Basic understanding of network protocols and configurations.
- Problem-solving and Troubleshooting:
- Ability to analyze complex technical issues and identify effective solutions.
- Scripting and Automation:
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Groovy, etc.) to automate repetitive tasks.
- Strong Communication Skills:
- Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requires the combination of education and experience to a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Candidates must also have considerable experience in:
- Security frameworks and compliance;
- Implementation, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance of enterprise applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Considerable knowledge and experience in:
- Oracle Fusion Cloud applications (ERP/HCM/SCM)
- Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
- Oracle Fusion Cloud role-based access control (RBAC)
- Oracle certifications: Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications Process Essentials (ERP and/or SCM), Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications Implementation Professional (Financials, Procurement), Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Cloud Ops Professional; or currently available equivalents
Physical Requirements:
Most of the work in this class is sedentary. In addition to having the visual acuity required to examine computer screens and handwritten and typewritten materials, an employee must be able to speak and hear. Operating a computer requires some physical dexterity in the hands.
Special Requirements:
- Requires a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Requires drug testing and background check (which may include criminal history check, SBI finger printing, motor vehicle records check, education verification and credit history review) and satisfactory reference checks prior to employment.
- Participation in occasional on-call availability may be required.
