What You’ll Do

Core Responsibilities

Structured Quality Audits on Spatial Datasets

• Conduct detailed, methodical evaluations of geographic and business data entries using advanced mapping platforms and GIS-standard evaluation tools
• Assess spatial data points (coordinates, boundaries, locations) for accuracy and consistency across multiple authoritative sources
• Verify business information (names, hours, categories, contact details, service offerings) against primary and secondary sources
• Evaluate cultural and regional context—ensuring data reflects how Mexicans actually navigate, describe, and interact with their geographic environment

Cross-Reference Complex Data Against Authoritative Sources

• Compare business, geographic, and cultural data entries across multiple authoritative sources (official registries, local government databases, business directories, street-level verification)
• Identify discrepancies where data conflicts across sources (e.g., conflicting addresses, outdated hours, category misclassifications)
• Apply critical thinking to determine which source is most reliable and document reasoning transparently

Rigorous Framework Application

• Apply detailed, multi-dimensional evaluation frameworks with consistency and precision across dozens of geographic, business, and cultural data variations
• Understand the intent behind evaluation guidelines and apply them contextually—knowing when to follow rules strictly and when to apply judgment

Work Across Diverse Task Types

• Be flexible and adaptable across varied evaluation tasks: Maps (location data, boundaries), News (geo-relevant content accuracy), Audio (transcription and context verification), Relevance (data-to-query matching), and emerging task types
• Quickly learn new task specifications and apply them with the same rigor

Provide Structured Feedback for Algorithm Improvement

• Articulate clear, actionable feedback that helps refine mapping algorithms and improve geographic intelligence
• Explain not just what is wrong, but why it matters for real-world navigation and discovery
• Suggest data corrections that are specific, evidence-based, and prioritize the most impactful improvements

Mandatory Qualifications

Language Proficiency

• Professional fluency in both English and Spanish (native or near-native proficiency required in both languages)
• Must be able to read and write formal evaluations clearly and precisely in English
• Must understand Spanish-language geographic, business, and cultural context
• Must be comfortable with technical terminology in both languages

Geographic and Residency Requirements

• Current residency in Mexico for the last 5 consecutive years (required to ensure authentic, current geographic knowledge)
• Deep, lived knowledge of Mexico’s geography—including major cities, regional landmarks, state and municipal boundaries, and less-prominent areas
• Current understanding of how people in your region actually navigate, speak about locations, and describe directions (colloquial usage, cultural references, regional variations)

Analytical and Problem-Solving Capability

• Advanced analytical thinking: demonstrated ability to break down complex geographic and business information into component parts, analyze each critically, and synthesize findings
• Methodical problem-solving: comfort with systematic approaches to identifying and resolving data discrepancies; ability to think through multiple hypotheses
• Attention to detail: capacity to spot inconsistencies, errors, and anomalies across large datasets without losing focus

Evaluation Framework Mastery

• Comfort with rigorous guideline interpretation: ability to understand detailed evaluation frameworks, ask clarifying questions, and apply them consistently across diverse scenarios
• Consistency under complexity: capacity to maintain consistent standards while handling dozens of variations in geographic, business, and cultural data
• Documentation discipline: willingness to articulate reasoning clearly in writing, so that your decisions can be audited and learned from

Task Flexibility

• Openness to working across diverse task types (Maps, News, Audio, Relevance, and emerging domains)
• Ability to learn new task specifications quickly and apply them with the same rigor as established tasks
• Adaptability to shifting priorities and project needs

Technical Literacy

• Comfortable learning and using mapping platforms and data evaluation interfaces
• Able to navigate web-based tools, upload files, and troubleshoot basic technical issues
• No programming experience required; willingness to learn new tools is essential

Technical Requirements

• Stable, reliable internet connection (minimum 5 Mbps download/upload recommended)
• Personal computer or laptop with current operating system, functioning keyboard, and mouse
• Quiet, distraction-free workspace for focused evaluation work

Assessment

In order to be hired into the program, you’ll take an open book qualification exam that will determine your suitability for the position and complete ID verification. Our team will provide you with guidelines and learning materials before your qualification exam. You will be required to complete the exam in a specific timeframe but at your convenience.

Service Rates 

Compensation is based on tasks completed and project availability. Estimated earnings may vary depending on task volume and program requirements including, quality, and productivity, in accordance with the program’s quality standards and guidelines.

Independent Contractor Relationship

This opportunity is offered on an independent contractor basis. Contributors have the flexibility to choose when and how much they work, subject to project availability and quality requirements.
