Job Description

We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Mechanical Engineer within our Engineering team to help support our Machinery business. As a Mechanical Engineer you will have the opportunity to collaborate with others to design, test, and troubleshoot new components

So, what will you be doing as a Mechanical Engineer?

  • Design mechanical systems and build prototypes to prove concepts
  • Be knowledgeable in designing coordinated motion systems
  • Perform engineering calculations
  • Knowledgeable in FE modeling
  • Create and revise detailed drawings and bill of materials
  • Ensure component introduction and change management activities are effectively completed and communicated
  • Prepare test procedures and protocols for technicians
  • Document test results and generate high level summary reports
  • Work with others outside of engineering (i.e. manufacturing, purchasing, vendors, etc.)
  • Review product design for compliance with safety standards
  • Knowledgeable in MS Office (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledgeable in 3D modeling (i.e. SolidWorks)

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools.
  • Demonstrate experience in many of the listed responsibilities
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally, and communicate and interact effectively with customers and suppliers
  • Hands on experience in troubleshooting electro-mechanical systems, test engineering
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical departments
  • Self motivated, organized, attentive to detail

Things we consider a plus

  • 2‐3 years of Mechanical Engineering experience
