Position summary:

At the Rainforest Alliance we are looking for a collaborative and results oriented Manager, Strategic Accounts, Cocoa Traders to join the Markets Transformation team. The Manager, Strategic Accounts, Cocoa Traders is responsible for managing key global cocoa trader relationships that are core to advancing our mission impact in the cocoa sector. They are responsible for developing account strategy in line with sector plans so as to facilitate advancement of these plans. They are also responsible for positioning Rainforest Alliance as a sustainability partner adding value to the sustainability ambitions of these organizations, so as to be able to leverage opportunities for advancing impact.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

General

  • The Rainforest Alliance’s Core Values are Impact, Change, Collaboration, Openness and Trust and as such they form the basis of the behaviors we demonstrate;
  • Support the design and implementation of special initiatives led by the Cocoa Sector Team;

Account Management

  • Build and implement a trader strategy that helps advance the key priorities for cocoa and for our work with global cocoa trade as relevant;
  • Build account strategies and plans for global cocoa traders accounts in the sectors department in order to maximize opportunity for growth and impact;
  • Oversee implementation of account strategy and related initiatives throughout the markets team and wider organization in order to deliver on commitments and further the opportunities for collaboration;
  • Manage relationships with these partners;
  • Regularly meet with account partner contacts, from executive to specialist departments, in order to review progress against commitments, investigate opportunities for further collaboration, and proactively address sector and supply chain risks;
  • Collaborate with other units in Markets Transformation and other departments as needed to understand developments in the sectors, innovative tailored offerings, and best practices across regions, in order to provide account partners with up to date opportunities and to position Rainforest Alliance as a key thought leader in the sustainability sector;
  • Build strong relationships with the relevant stakeholders at the trader accounts in order to stay abreast of the accounts’ sustainability strategy and related opportunities;
  • Work closely with the Strategic Account Manager Coffee Trader to oversee the range of initiatives Rainforest Alliance implements with the key global traders;
  • Other duties, as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Business Economics, or related.
  • 7 years plus experience in corporates in supply chain or sustainability or equivalent experience in managing large volume key accounts in the cocoa sector.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with a commodity trader within trading, data and analytics or sustainability departments, or as a commodity trader at a global manufacturer or brand;
  • Strategic and analytical thinker.
  • Strong relationship management skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Willingness & ability to travel up to 20% of time.
  • Written and verbal proficiency in French preferred.

Salary:

Commensurate with experience.
