The Water Group is located in three offices; London, Bath and Leeds.  We are now looking to add a further engineer to the team, who has specialist hydraulic modelling skills and a passion for sustainable Flood Risk Management. 

What will I be doing? 

  • Helping to develop the group’s hydraulic modelling capability;
  • Develop other software analysis to include sedimentation transportation and water quality modelling;
  • Working on a range of domestic and international engineering projects, from a building scale to regional analysis;
  • Interpreting modelling results;
  • Problem solving to develop practical engineering solutions;
  • Assisting with the strategic direction of our projects and leading small to medium sized projects;
  • Assist with fee proposals and business development;
  • Help mentor and train junior staff in modelling skills;
  • Present analysis and proposed solutions to clients and stakeholders;
  • Responsible for ensuring delivery of projects to budget and programme;
  • Maintain commitment to CPD;
  • Working towards Chartered status;
  • Coordinating work with other members of the project team both internally and externally;
  • Mobility & flexibility for occasional overseas travel.

What can I bring to the role?

  • A passion for flood risk management;
  • A desire to expand your experience beyond hydraulic modelling;
  • In-depth experience of modelling complex fluvial analysis;
  • An interest in developing experience of coastal modelling;
  • Developing flood risk mitigation measures;
  • Range of hydraulic software packages (TUFLOW, FloodModeller);
  • GIS knowledge (QGIS);
  • CAD skills;
  • Interest in training and mentoring junior staff;
  • Some experience or desire to develop client facing experience;
  • Ability to communicate technical subjects;
  • Good written and verbal skills;
  • Confident, proactive character, who enjoys working in a team, with an ability to take the lead in challenging situations with the confidence to question engineers regarding coordination of details;
  • Good computer and IT skills.  Use of Microsoft Office software essential;
  • Experience of working on a one-to-one basis and in team working situations;
  • Willingness to learn new skills and software plus attendance of upgrade training according to industry requirements
