Job Description
Role: Head of Talent Acquisition
Location: Commutable distance to either London/Bristol/Swansea or Manchester
Working from home policy: 1-2 days onsite in either location once restrictions are removed
Salary: up £90k
Mission: Build and lead a high performing talent team, and lead the development and implementation of the strategy to deliver Made Tech’s hiring goals over the coming three years.
We’re looking for a Head of Talent Acquisition to enable our next phase of growth.
Hiring the best possible people in a highly competitive market is a make or break priority as we rapidly scale up over the next 3 – 5 years.
As the leader for talent acquisition you’ll be responsible for ensuring we’re building an exceptional and diverse talent pool, delivering an outstanding candidate experience, and meeting the company’s hiring demands across the UK, and later internationally, in a sustainable and predictable way.
You’ll gain a deep understanding of Made Tech’s mission, purpose and growth strategy to develop a talent acquisition strategy that scales with the business and supports the business to scale.
Implementing sustainable and repeatable working practices that support and enable the talent team from sourcing to contract negotiation. You’ll work in partnership with senior stakeholders across the business to develop talent pipelines from disciplines ranging from software engineering to sales to senior leadership.
The Role:
- Understanding and managing Made Tech’s hiring needs today and long term. Developing and implementing an efficient talent acquisition strategy that scales, builds confidence in predictable hiring results, and is sustainable
- Developing, managing and maintaining a highly-skilled talent team. You’ll be accountable for Talent Acquisition & Talent Management working with the team to define a clear sourcing & recruiting strategy, screening process and delivery model.
- Act as a leader and mentor to the team, focusing on developing individuals, using your knowledge & experience to build training & team-wide initiatives to help the team thrive. Lead by example – show the teams what ‘great’ looks like and train your people closely through doing.
- Working with our Talent Lead to drive proactive sourcing initiatives with Talent Acquisition through recruiting efforts, brand building exercises & working with our wider community of software engineers, delivery managers, designers, product managers, and other capabilities.
- Implement a set of clear team goals and support and hold the team to account for delivering against these goals, whilst proactively looking for ways to improve along the way. Thinking constantly about automation, optimisation & delivery.
- Working closely with the Demand and Service Delivery areas of the business to stay ahead of hiring needs
- Understand the talent market outside of Made Tech and communicating any trends in recruitment and markets which could impact the business
- Continuously reducing the cost per hire through driving efficiency and performance
- Get stuck in! As a growing scale-up, we need someone who can try and test new things and isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty.
- Work closely with our Marketing Team to develop our employer brand through content, events & community initiatives.
Requirements
About you:
You have experience in a rapidly scaling company managing and overseeing a talent acquisition team and evidence of delivering a high performing and sustainable recruitment function.
Having commercial and analytical know-how is required, as is having strong communication and leadership skills. You must be strategic, influential and confident in building relationships with employees at all levels.
- You must have a background leading an in-house recruitment team, ideally within a high growth, technology company.
- You’ll have evidence of demonstrating strong strategic leadership
- Experience in leading teams that are continuously delivering across multiple pipelines and managing high volumes of complex and experienced hire positions
- Experience in a rapidly scaling company with a record of achievements
- Evidence of supporting and prioritising diversity and inclusion in a high performance recruitment function
- Commercial understanding (knowledge of client internal processes, either as in-house business partner OR via an embedded consultancy/RPO) – exceptional communication & presentation skills
- Background in hands-on technical headhunting – experience in sourcing talent through various channels (LinkedIn, meetups, GitHub etc.)
- Team Lead Experience – can manage and motivate those around them and lead by example, mentor type – leadership qualities (professional, super performance driven, empathetic, intuitive)
- Start-up/Scale-up experience – knows quality & personality traits required for a fast-growing business & knows how to develop an approach to capture and screen the right talent and how to present this information
- Experience developing and implementing a strategy for large-scale talent acquisition operations from early stages – 00s-000s – managed the projects and delivery directly, bearing in mind scalability & automation processes & tools – building an exceptional process now, that allows fast scale without compromising on quality
- You’ll have a strong understanding of the digital and technology hiring market
- Evidence of analytical & data-driven approach – clear targets, clear measurement strategy & consistent checking against these
- Passionate about continuous improvement, always on the lookout to iterate and improve the experience for hiring managers and candidates
Optional
- Experience in building significant employer brand awareness to our core specific technical communities & has driven initiatives around this – partnerships, events, content-driven initiatives
This role can be based anywhere in the UK and reports into the Chief Operating Officer.
