Full-Time General Production Operator

Description:
We are seeking general production operators responsible for various positions within the Melt Shop, CSP (Caster – Hot Mill), or Cold Mill areas of the Big River Steel facility.
Job Duties Include:
-Ensure Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements are followed and a priority
-Ensure good housekeeping practices are carried out in job areas and grounds
-Support the site’s Quality Management System as required
-Ensure policies, procedures and all activities are carried out to support BRS goals and objectives on respective crew assignments
-Safely run overhead cranes and mobile equipment (Rough Terrain, Man Lift, Fork Lift, Carry Deck or Broaderson)
-Support other departments as needed to strengthen BRS profitability and continual improvement efforts
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
-Strong safety awareness; quality and detail oriented; mechanically inclined
-Good written and verbal communication skills; computer literate and a positive team player
-Self-motivated with the ability to work consistently without direct supervision
-Ability to demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism at all times
-Ability to perform repetitive stretching, reaching, lifting and walking to support routine responsibilities
-Ability to routinely work in extreme temperatures, on scheduled rotating shifts, across weekends and holidays
-Ability to make decisions in a fast paced production environment in a safe and efficient manner
-Adaptability to accept changes in job duties and eagerness to learn and apply new knowledge
-Reliable team player with good communication skills
-Highly motivated, self-directed, and willing to put in extra hours when needed
-Experienced with overhead crane and/or mobile equipment (Rough Terrain, Man Lift, Fork Lift, Carry Deck or Broaderson)
-Basic computer skills required; use of Microsoft Office is a plus
-High School diploma or equivalent (accredited GED)
-Technical certificate in Steel or Industrial Technology or closely related field is a plus
-Related experience is a plus but not required
Shift and Work Environment:
Typical work hours are four 12 hour shifts, which rotate days and nights. This results in working some weekends/holidays and overtime.
Environment is typical for a steel mill production areas, with extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and dusty/greasy areas. Physically demanding work will be required in the production environment.
