Job Description
Disability Rights Tennessee (DRT) seeks a Financial Rights Reviewer to
- provide financial review on behalf of Tennesseans with disabilities appointed a Representative Payee to manage their Social Security benefits
- work in the Middle Tennessee region routinely, but may travel statewide
- obtain suitability approval by the United States Government, Social Security Administration, and The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA).

DRT is the designated Protection & Advocacy System (P&A) and Client Assistance Program (CAP) for Tennessee. For over 45 years, our agency has served more than 57,000 Tennesseans. DRT is funded through federal grants, state contracts, private donations, and grants. DRT has eleven programs which provide services across the state and across issues. What You’ll Do
- Audit financials and policies of Representative Payees as identified by SSA.
- Interview Representative Payees and assess compliance with SSA Guidelines.
- Provide Representative Payee education, as needed.
- Conduct interviews of Tennesseans with disabilities being served by the Representative Payee to ensure their wellbeing and satisfaction with the Representative Payee’s performance.
- Adhere to strict SSA protocols for materials that include Personally Identifiable Information, and complete reviews in compliance with SSA requirements.
- Participate in outreach, professional development, referral activities and other tasks as assigned

- Ability to collaborate as part of a team and serve effectively as either lead or secondary Reviewer.
- Professional presentation skills and ability to represent DRT well.

What Else You Should Know
- Education requirements are flexible. A related degree in counseling, social work, human services, finance, or a similar field is preferred; relevant experience may substitute.
- This is a full-time position at 5 hours per week, with flexibility in the daily schedule.
- The position primarily serves Middle Tennessee but may require statewide
- The successful candidate must live in Middle Tennessee, within 60 miles of DRT’s Nashville
- Routine in-state travel is required, averaging about 40% of the work month. A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current insurance are
- Reliable home internet is required.
- DRT will provide the necessary technology and equipment.
- Remote work may be permitted when travel is not required.
- The successful candidate must obtain government suitability clearance from the United States Government, Social Security Administration, and The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) within six months of hire.
The salary for this position begins at $52,000; the exact salary for this position depends on experience, certifications, and skills.
