Established as a community non-profit in 1972, The Center provides targeted programs and services to the full diversity of the San Diego LGBTQ community. The mission of The Center is to enhance and sustain the health and well-being of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, transgender, nonbinary, immigrant, and HIV communities for the betterment of our entire San Diego region. The Center currently has over 75 staff working at five facilities across San Diego County.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Director of Facilities and Project Management, the Facilities Technician is responsible for assisting in maintaining all properties owned and operated by The San Diego LGBT Center. Working in tandem with the Facility Coordinator, the Facility Technician is responsible for ensuring that all of The Center’s facilities (5) are maintained following all agency policies and professional standards of excellence.

PRIMARY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • General maintenance and repairs
  • Landscape and appearance of grounds
  • Assist with general daily housekeeping
  • Maintain contacts for needed trade professionals, which will include, but not limited to, plumbing, electrical, appliances, elevator service/inspections, HVAC systems service/inspections, SDHC unit and building inspections, fire suppression and alarm systems, and other general services
  • Daily security of the buildings
  • Assist Facility Coordinator with organization and Implementation of unit turn-over at Sunburst Youth Housing Project (flips)
  • Provision of consumable maintenance materials needed at each site
  • Organize and maintain all tools and equipment, ensuring all are in proper order and safe to operate
  • Assist the Facility Coordinator with responding to tenant issues at Sunburst Youth Housing Project (when needed) based on the scope of the lease, primarily using an established “work order” system
  • Work with the Director of Facilities and Project Management to measurably adhere to all protocols implemented at all Center properties to ensure completion of all daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual tasks for the health, well-being, and safety of staff and facilities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education and/or Experience: Three years of demonstrated experience in facilities maintenance
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English required
  • Professional Skills: Demonstrated competence in working with a variety of diverse populations; Excellent interpersonal communication skills; Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with PC/Windows-based environments, and Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Outlook, and

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Language Skills: Fluency in Spanish
  • Professional Skills: Experience working in maintenance with multi-unit living facilities

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • Compensation: The pay range for this position is $18.00-20.00/HR and is commensurate with experience. This is a Full-Time Regular Non-Exempt
