Background
The Kaleidoscope Trust (KT) is a UK based registered charity working to uphold the human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people internationally. We believe that the rights of all people should be respected equally, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. KT was founded in 2011 and is a UK registered charity based in London. In its short history, Kaleidoscope Trust has established itself as one of the main voices for international LGBT rights issues in the UK.
Our mission is to advance the human rights of LGBT people internationally in countries where their rights are threatened by prejudice, discrimination and/or the criminal law. We have developed a reputation for innovative and effective interventions. In the next three years we aim to strengthen our position as a knowledgeable voice on international LGBT rights; to use that position to help deliver positive change in the countries where LGBT people are persecuted and their rights are under attack; and to influence the UK government and the Commonwealth to promote such change.
The Position
We are looking for an Executive Director (ED) who will drive and lead this work and also grow our organisation in the next phase of its development.The post-holder will also be expected to shape and prioritise efforts to generate financial support to achieve the objectives as set out in the strategy. The ED will lead, motivate and guide a small, highly qualified and inspired team, and will manage resources to optimise impact and influence.
Key to the development of the organisation, is the ability to devise and execute a core fund raising strategy We also are looking for an individual with strong communications and relationship-building skills, policy advocacy expertise, knowledge and experience of working with government and international institutions, a keen political sensitivity, proven skills in diplomacy, and an ability to capture Kaleidoscope’s mission quickly and to deliver on it effectively.
The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors and will provide strategic direction and have overall operational responsibility for Kaleidoscope’s staff, programmes, expansion, and execution of its mission.
