Full-Time Events Lead (12 month fixed term contract)

FJWilson Talent – Posted by FJWilson Talent London, England, United Kingdom

Job Description

Events Lead (12 month fixed term contract)

Are you an experienced events professional, who has a proven track record of creating, planning, and delivering face to face events?

Are you looking for a role where you would enjoy the autonomy to develop and shape an events programme to enhance the engagement of a membership community and sector?

Are you ready to take on a challenging contract role, that will involve immediate planning and action?

Do you have excellent organisation, management and leadership skills?

Then we have the perfect opportunity for you!

The role

Our client is a reputable membership and NHS partner organisation, and they are looking for an enthusiastic Events Lead to join their team on an initial full time contract basis. It is extremely likely that this post will become permanent.

The purpose of this Events Lead role is to plan, manage, schedule, develop and deliver our client’s face to face member engagement events’ programme.   Currently our client delivers online events, which is handled by another team member.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will need to be comfortable leading on the full cycle of event management: from concept through to development.  You must be experienced at working at a senior level, both internally and externally.

Whilst this organisation has been around for over 100 years, you essentially have the opportunity to work in a ‘start up’ scenario: transforming the organisation’s event and member engagement landscape.

This role will suit you perfectly, if you are looking for a role where you can evolve what the organisation does for its members, with an autonomous and hands on approach.

You will design, deliver and manage a series of 16 events, ranging from circa 50 to circa 100 delegates. Locations will be in London, Birmingham, and Manchester.

Our client is also looking for someone who can work with partner organisations, and secure sponsorships to ensure cost-neutral events (or even return a small profit).

Key facts

Contract: Full-time fixed term contract 12 months, likely to become permanent

Hybrid working pattern: home working blended with 2 days per week working out of the client’s office just outside of London

Salary: up to £50,000 per annum + benefits

Availability: immediate or very short notice (maximum of 1 month notice period)

The candidate

You’ll need to be strong at:

  • Managing the entire in-person event lifecycle from the planning stage, right through to running the event, and carrying out the post-event evaluation.
  • Formulating the content of each event.
  • Constructing and monitoring event budgets.
  • Developing successful revenue generation (e.g. sponsorship), to ensure cost neutral delivery.
  • Delivering a high standard of customer service.

Key attributes:

  • Problem solver: Ability to respond quickly and effectively to resolve complex issues.
  • Excellent negotiator: effectively and persuasively navigate discussions and reach agreements with partner organisations.
  • Diplomatic: handle situations, relationships, and negotiations tactfully, sensitively, and effectively.
  • A willingness to travel and stay away overnight: most of the events will take place in the evenings.

The organisation

Our client stands out as the foremost association in their field on a national scale, striving to ensure the success of its numerous members both professionally and commercially. With a rich history spanning over a century, their primary objective is to empower members in enhancing their services and elevating profession standards.

Functioning also as a membership organisation, our client places its members at the core of its operations. By unifying the voices of its members, this organisation actively shapes decisions made by governmental bodies in the UK and other entities.
