NEW HIGHER PAY: $34,084 – $59,646
The Challenge
We’re looking for an Entry-Level Engineering Technician to join our Forsyth County Roadside Environmental team.
In this role you will:
    • Oversee the complete operations of the Davie and Davidson County Rest Areas that are held to a very high standard of cleanliness, professionalism, courteousness, and facility operations.
    • Monitor custodial and landscaping contractors to ensure all work is completed in a professional and timely manner and in contract accordance.
    • Monitor the lift station to make sure it is operating properly and make repairs/contract repairs as quickly as possible – even outside normal working hours.
    • Troubleshoot facility problems with and make or contract repairs to the facility in all areas, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and building repairs.
    • Get quotes, evaluate repair technician suggestions, and make recommendations.
    • Interact with others, including custodial/landscape contractors, service repair technicians, and the public.
    • Coordinate snow removal of the rest area parking areas during snow/ice events and outside normal work hours.
What You Bring
    • Landscape/gardening experience in areas such as mowing, guardrail trimming, tree removal, and plant bed maintenance.
    • Experience interacting with contractors and public.
    • Experience reading highway/landscape construction plans.
    • Computer skills in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel).
    • Great ability to work in a team environment.
    • Agility to work on uneven surfaces and slopes.
    • Ability to perform assigned tasks and to follow verbal/written instructions.
Education & Experience
    • Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum; or
    • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
Management Prefers
    • Candidates with a valid driver’s license.
Notes
    • There may be times when you will need to work in other capacities within the Roadside Environmental Unit.
    • Work in this role involves exposure to all types of weather conditions.
    • This role is subject to emergency call back, scheduled night work, and work during adverse weather or other extreme circumstances.
    • We may require work during non-traditional work hours including nights, weekends, holidays, and times of emergency.
    • Safety toe shoes are required.
