Full-Time Director of Procurement

Job Description

As the Director of Procurement, you will manage product/service sourcing for all items used at our hotels. This position develops strategic partners and identifies cost-competitive solutions which advance the Brand’s initiatives. This position identifies and leads strategic projects which align with our Brand’s strategic direction and oversees them from inception, set up, and implementation. As the Director of Procurement, you need to understand basic construction principles.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain a procurement supply chain for all Inns, for the cost-effective and streamlined procurement of operating supplies and equipment (OS&E), furniture, fixture, and equipment (FF&E), maintenance, repair, and overhaul items (MRO), and capital products. In addition, it oversees the maintenance and accuracy of the Master Specification Manual.
• Develop and maintain key distributors and manufacturers for a robust and diverse supply chain that gives inn owners and operators multiple options for purchasing.
• Manage the entire procurement service: through – payment process, cost competitiveness, quality, and service levels.
• Meet with new and existing vendors to ensure service levels are being met and that the department is at the forefront of any relevant and new products in the marketplace.
• Identify key strategic vendors based on input from Operations.
• Manage vendor relationships and foster positive relationships in which vendors and the Brand support each other mutually.
• Negotiate contracts for competitive pricing, service levels, and legal terms, and work with Legal Department to gain terms favorable to our organization.
• Perform detailed analysis and research to support major brand initiatives.
• Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures for the Procurement Department.
• Lead strategic projects that align with the Brand’s initiatives and goals.
• Consults with other departments to ensure the proper agreements are put in place prior to collaborations, i.e., Design Ownership Agreements, Master Sourcing Agreements, and Pricing Agreements.
• Recommend and present strategic initiatives to the Brand Standards committee, such as In-room coffee and amenity enhancements.
• Actively participates in the opening process and support for new Inns, including the support staff for procurement consulting.
• Participate on key committees such as the Brand Standards Committee
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent work experience required.
• Minimum of 5 years of management experience hospitality industry preferred, with procurement-related duties.
• Budget management experience.
• Proficient with basic computer programs including the Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe
• Proficient use of ORACLE (or comparable enterprise-wide software).
• Excellent organization and time-management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Travel for applicable trade shows and conferences as they relate to general duties required.
