Full-Time Director of Housing Strategy
Job Description
Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the Director of Housing Strategy will identify, and project manage, opportunities to work within and outside of County government to deliver on the Innamorato Administration’s commitment to housing for all. Strong candidates will have expertise in mitigating challenges with homelessness prevention, affordable housing production, tenants’ rights, and effective provision of supportive and transitional housing, among other issues that affect the availability and affordability of housing in Allegheny County.
The Director of Housing Strategy’s responsibilities include:
- Monitor local, state, and federal policy developments and funding opportunities related to housing and homelessness; analyze the potential impact of these developments on Allegheny County; and lead the County’s strategy to secure additional funding and respond to policy developments
- Shape and project manage the County Executive Office’s operational plan to deliver on its commitment to Housing for All, including projecting need, analyzing various strategies to determine the most effective approaches, and establishing implementation priorities
- Develop and implement a strategy, in partnership with relevant County departments, to strengthen partnerships with the municipal governments in the County to improve coordination related to homelessness prevention, homelessness service delivery, placement within transition and supportive housing, and affordable housing production
- As directed by the County Executive and the Chief of Staff, develop and maintain strong working relationships with the County Departments that play a role in housing and homelessness services, identify opportunities to improve inter-departmental coordination, and identify opportunities to streamline and modernize the County’s approach to homelessness prevention and housing production
Candidates should have at least ten years of relevant experience, either working or in graduate school. Experience designing and managing significant housing strategies and initiatives in government or mission-driven non-profits preferred.
Anticipated annual salary: $90,000-$100,000
