Full-Time Director of Grassroots Giving

Job Description

THE ROLE 

The Union for Reform Judaism’s (URJ) Development Department  seeks a  highly motivated  Director of Grassroots Giving to grow the participation, impact and reputation of the URJ and its core programs to increase participation, engagement and financial support for priority initiatives. The Director of Grassroots Giving is responsible for expanding the donor base and growing the grassroots fundraising efforts of the URJ through direct response programs, online giving, email journeys, and social media.  This position sits at the intersection of the development, communications, and IT teams and will work collaboratively with colleagues across the URJ. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO 

The Director, Grassroots Giving reports to Vice President, External Relations and is responsible for the following: 

LEADERSHIP & STRATEGY 

  • In partnership with the Marketing and Communications team, develop and execute a digital fundraising strategy including email communications, journeys, and social media.  
  • Manage all aspects of the URJ and Religious Action Center (RAC) direct response program in partnership with fundraising consultant including content and image collection and review, managing approval process, monitoring production calendar, processing invoices, and problem solving. 
  • Manage all aspects of new email campaign pilot with camps in partnership with fundraising consultant including content and image collection and review, managing approval process, monitoring production calendar, processing invoices, problem solving, and assessing success and potential long term planning. 

ONLINE GIVING PLATFORM  

  • Responsible for managing URJ’s online giving platform.  
  • Serve as a resource for colleagues across the organization on best practices in online giving pages while leveraging usage of the platform.  
  • Partner with development operations and business systems teams on trouble shooting technical issues with the platform. 

WHO YOU ARE & KEYS TO SUCCESS (THE MUST-HAVES): 

To be successful in this job, you excel in the following areas: 

  • Development and Fundraising. Knowledge of best practices and expertise in optimizing grassroots fundraising campaigns. Awareness and understanding of the Reform movement, especially in relation to development opportunities. Experience with online giving platforms.  
  • Relationship and Data Management. Solid relationship builder. Effective, human-centered written and verbal communication skills. Proven customer service skills. Knowledge of and experience with a CRM database, such as Salesforce. Able to navigate complex systems.  
  • Organization, Planning, and Multitasking. Advanced organizational and planning skills. Demonstrable ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and multitask with minimal supervision. Proven ability to coordinate activities. Has the ability to help create, articulate and execute a vision for the growth and success of the organization. 
  • Self-Management and Teamwork. Ability to work independently and as a member of the team, ability to be detail-oriented and consistently accurate, ability to manage stress effectively in a fast-paced environment, and ability to quickly learn new processes and procedures. Proven ability to be resilient, adaptable, and comfortable working with ambiguity. Ability to ask for help/seek guidance when needed.  
  • REDI Experience (Racial Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion). Demonstrated experience prioritizing and executing on Racial Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion (i.e., ableism, LGBTQ+ Inclusion, antiracism, etc.) priorities as relates to development, programming and donor cultivation. 
  • Communication. Effective oral and written communication skills and able to utilize and different forms of relevant media.
