Digital communication is an increasingly important part of health communication. If you would like to use your digital media skills to help improve the health of the community, you may be our new colleague on the Health District’s Communications team.
About the team
The Communications team comprises the Communications Director, Communications Specialist, and Graphic Designer. The team produces marketing communication materials for the Health District – including the quarterly Compass community newsletter – in addition to serving as an in-house service bureau for the programs within the organization. Content created by the team includes our award-winning newsletter; print and digital advertising; social media posts; website content; brochures, flyers, posters, and other collateral materials; news for the Health District intranet; and a monthly radio show.
The position
As Digital Media Specialist, you will work cooperatively with program staff and the Communications team to expand the Health District’s use of digital media to educate, inform, and engage constituents across a variety of platforms, including social media and Health District web properties. This position creates digital content that helps promote awareness, understanding, and utilization of Health District services, in addition to assisting in efforts to educate the community about critical health issues.
Pay range and status
- $26.92 – $32.98 per hour DOQ
- 40 hrs/wk

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in marketing, journalism, public relations, new media, graphic design, or related field.
- A minimum of three years of professional experience in social media management, marketing, communications, or related field.
- Experience developing a variety of digital assets, including social media content, online ads, and videos.
- Experience maintaining social media accounts, including creating and scheduling original text, graphics, photo, and video content.
Key Responsibilities
The Digital Media Specialist will coordinate and work in conjunction with the Communications Director, Communications team, and program staff to:
- Create a wide range of digital content, including static posts, photos, and videos that support Health District objectives; promote awareness and utilization of services; and educate the community about critical health issues. Content will appear on a variety of platforms, including the Health District website, social media sites, and advertising networks.
- Post organic and paid content to Health District social media channels. When possible, the Digital Media Specialist may oversee digital advertising campaigns, providing targeting, management, and monitoring of ad content.
- Update the Health District website with new content and remove outdated content as needed.
