Horton’s Kids – Posted by hortonskids Washington, District of Columbia, United States

Job Description

Position Description:

Horton’s Kids seeks a driven, organized, dynamic Development Manager to manage a portfolio of high-value individual and corporate donor prospects and execute various elements of our individual donor program. The organization has gone through significant growth in the past five years, including receiving some of the largest gifts from individuals in the organization’s history in 2019. In the next five years, Horton’s Kids will navigate the COVID-19 funding environment and continue our growth trajectory, securing more gifts from individuals and corporations so we can increase our impact on the lives of the children of Wellington Park and Stanton Oaks. The Development Manager will be a key leader in that effort. This position will be perfect for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit who is creative, charismatic, determined, and looking to make a real difference in the lives of DC children.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Soliciting gifts or supporting board members and/or executive director in solicitations

    • Track progress towards event goals
    • Drafting solicitation materials
  • Manage the donor stewardship cycle, including reporting to donors, contributing to the Annual Report and e-newsletters, brainstorming stewardship events, drafting print newsletters, and tracking this information in Raiser’s Edge
  • Manage and execute direct marketing campaigns, including direct mail, direct mail newsletters, e-solicitations, and peer to peer fundraisers
  • Implement workplace giving campaign strategy, including for the Combined Federal Campaign every fall
  • Support other departmental initiatives as needed

Qualifications: The ideal candidate is an excellent verbal and written communicator, dynamic, adaptable, and can handle multiple projects simultaneously and autonomously. Additional essential competencies and experience include:

  • Demonstrated success in fundraising
  • 3-5 years of development experience
  • Enthusiasm for Horton’s Kids’ mission and passion for social justice
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm to work beyond the regular work week as needed, including evenings and occasional weekends
  • Ability to be a team player in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a small, hard-working team
