Defence Munitions Receive Store, Maintain & Issue a wide range of munitions that used by the UK armed forces to train, protect and serve anywhere in the world. Our Defence Munitions staff work closely with DE&S project teams and front-line commands in order to ensure our troops have the right items at the right time. We work as an important part of the wider MoD establishment that supports, procures and supplies our troops, providing them with a range of munitions from bullets, shells, and flares up to and including and Complex Weapons such as high-calibre ammunition and guided or targeted weapons.
In this role you will manage a team to deliver the safe and secure receipt, storage, issue and maintenance of all General Munitions that are mandated by MOD Centre and procured through the DE&S Project Teams to equip the Front-Line Commands and operations.
Responsibilities
The role requires a practitioner able to engage with a wide variety of working and senior level stakeholders; providing support, advice, guidance, line management and suggestions relating to their specific tasking and equipment’s.
Specific role and responsibilities include:
* Manage staff, directing work, manage the process plan through DM (Defence Munitions) HO (Head Office) GMP (General Munitions Processing), monitoring performance, managing disciplinary matters as well as accounting for absence and leave. This will include, maintaining a capacity and resource plan, to ensure there is enough manpower to meet the demand from processing tasks and other demands.
* Manage and conduct assembly and disassembly, examination, maintenance, repair and modification of live munitions including non explosive variants.Meet production of munitions and weapons targets to expected safety, time, cost and quality standards
.* As a building custodian you will ensure facilities are safe, secure and correctly prepared, set up and compliant with OSHE, Fire and explosives regulations prior to commencement of work.
* Carry out detailed inspections to de-configure and reconfigure an ammunition nature and its components.
* Diagnose and carry out any remedial work involving the tracing of faults or malfunctions of equipment, ensuring only the correct, authorised and serviceable equipment is used in support of General Munitions Processing.
* Conduct packing, repacking and marking of products as well as on-receipt and pre-issue activities to ensure a good awareness of stock level and to meet required standards.
* Conduct disposal of munitions using a Small Arms Ammunition Destructor Oven (SAADO) facility.
You will be working in an operationally focused delivery organisation, making effective decisions and managing a quality service. Safety always remains paramount, with a drive for improvement, professionalism and customer satisfaction can be found within this role.
You will possess a strong understanding of, and be able to apply risk management. You will be a strong team player, with excellent judgement and know when to defer to others on topics outside of your own area of expertise.
Public transport isnt accessible to DM Longtown due to its rural location, so own transport or other alternatives to attend site will be required. Parking is available onsite.
Please note:
* You may be required to operate on-call during silent hours as a Major Accident Control Regulations post-holder.
* You may be required to operate as Duty Control Officer, including on-site overnight and at weekends.
* This role involves occasional travel to other locations across the UK and, occasionally, overseas.
What you will be assessed against
To be found successful you must demonstrate the following essential criteria:
• Practical experience of assembling, disassembling, examining, maintaining, repairing and modification of munitions OR experience in a relevant environment.
• Level 3 qualificiation OR experience within a munitions environment.
• Willingness to complete all mandatory training as directed by DE&S and wider MoD requirements.

The iLog Function consists of around 2,900 personnel, both civil servants and military, and with a wide range of disciplines ranging from operations management and supply chain management, technical through-life support and logistics delivery, to modelling and analysis.
