TEACHER, SHORT TERM SUBSTITUTE (JOB ID: 62907)

 

This posting is for the 2023-2024 School Year.

Hiring for:  Specific Schools and All Grade Levels/Full Day and Half Day assignments may be available.

 

Effective 8/1, for the remainder of the 2023-24 School Year, all Guest Teachers/Daily Substitutes will receive incentive pay.

$21.60 per hour/$172.80 per full day for Daily Subs with Sub Authorizations

$27.00 per hour/$216.00 per full day for Daily Subs with Teaching Licenses


Essential Functions and Objectives:

Duties my include providing instruction and carry out a teacher’s lesson plan in classrooms as assigned. Organize students for effective instruction and learning while maintaining classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students. Motivate student learning and academic participation while ensuring the integrity of academic time. Perform other duties as assigned by the school Principal. 


 

Provide In Person Support:

 

– Guest Teachers may cover for a teacher in a daily capacity or over the course of several days.  Provide support wherever the school leader needs it.

– Daily assignments are not always available or known in advance.  Availability and flexibility to be on call with your assigned school as well as ability to communicate effectively regarding your schedule are required.  More information can be provided during the interview process.

 

DPS is working closely with our Health Partners to ensure the health and safety of our students, families, and staff.  We will be following their guidance for how we will welcome everyone back to school.  Update guidelines will be found here.  

Knowledge, Experience, & Other Qualifications: 

 

– Must possess a current 1-year Substitute Authorization, 3-year Substitute Authorization, 5-year Substitute Authorization, Initial Teaching License or Professional Teaching License issued by the Colorado Department of Education (CDE). We will accept a dated receipt from CDE indicating you have applied for your authorization or license, which does allow you to work as a substitute while it is still pending with CDE. Please note the above listed licenses are the only licenses accepted for substitute teaching with DPS. Alternative licenses are not accepted. Check the CDE website for more information:  http://www.cde.state.co.us

 

– Qualified guest teachers are needed in all subject areas. Highest need areas are Math, Science, ELA-S and Special Ed AMI/AMS. 

 

– Excellent written and verbal communications. 

 

– Effective time management skills. 

 

– Must be able to follow written and oral directions. 

 

– Ability to be adaptable and flexible within various job duties and assignments.  – Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.  

 

Education Requirements:

 

– Bachelor’s degree in Education or related preferred.  If you do not have a Bachelor’s degree and apply for your 1-year Substitute Authorization, you must have previous experience working with children in an academic setting.
