Full-Time Delivery Manager

Lauren Power – Posted by Lauren Power Wales, United Kingdom

Job Description

Delivery Manager

Salary: £39,000 – £47,000 (depending on experience)

Location: Wales. Remote but will be expected to attend some in person meetings.

Term: This is a permanent role for the remainder of this Senedd term (until 2026) with an option to extend in future.

This role is also available as a secondment for Welsh public sector employees. Please follow your own organisation’s policy on informing and getting permission from line managers.

The ability to speak and write Welsh is desirable. We will judge applications submitted in Welsh or English equally.

The role

Delivery managers at CDPS work at the heart of teams to provide direction and ensure they have the right environment to deliver their products and services in an iterative way.

You’ll be accountable for stuff getting done, motivating and supporting teams, and removing blockers.

You’ll have a deep understanding of Agile and lean practices and use your own judgement to decide on appropriate tools and techniques.

You’ll be adept at delivering complex digital projects, breaking down barriers for our teams and planning – both at a higher level and getting into the detail when needed.

You’ll be at the core of the decisions the team makes and create an environment where they’re excited about their work.

You’ll be part of the wider community of product and delivery managers at CDPS who deliver skills and capability training, masterclasses and community events.

Progress so far

CDPS is committed to working in the open. We regularly blog and tweet about our work and we would encourage you to look at the work we do with partners.

A few examples we’re particularly proud of are:

What you’ll do

As a Delivery Manager you will:

  • deliver projects and products using the appropriate Agile project management methodology, learning and iterating frequently
  • work with the Product Manager to define the roadmap for any given product and translate this into user stories
  • lead the collaborative, dynamic planning process – prioritising the work that needs to be done against the capacity and capability of the team
  • matrix-managing a multidisciplinary team
  • ensure all products are built to an appropriate level of quality for the stage (alpha/beta/live)
  • actively participating in the delivery and product community, sharing and re-applying skills and knowledge and bringing in best practice
  • line manage an Associate Delivery Manager, supporting them to learn and grow into delivery manager roles

Who you are

Our delivery professionals work on a diverse range of projects, products and services within CDPS and with our partners across the public sector. We’re looking for people with strong interpersonal skills who enjoy working in a demanding, high profile Agile environment.

We’re looking for people who are passionate about Agile working, who know how to help teams succeed and care about improving the lives of citizens in Wales. And we want people who believe that how you work is as important as what you deliver.

We’re interested in people with proven experience in:

  • delivering digital products and services
  • taking a lead in advocating for a user-centred approach to delivering products and services
  • using a range of Agile project management methods
  • using tools and techniques to identify and fix issues in team dynamics, choosing the right approaches to support the development of blended teams
  • matrix-managing multidisciplinary teams
  • building inclusive cultures and introducing new skills and approaches into organisations
  • coaching, mentoring and delivering training in a variety of forms

We want to hear from people who are excited by the Digital Strategy for Wales, which at its heart is about improving the lives of the people of Wales.

Please keep reading

Research shows that, while men apply for jobs where they meet 60% of the criteria, women and other marginalised people tend only to apply when they check every box. So, if you think you have what it takes, but don’t necessarily meet every single point on the job description, please still get in touch. We’d love to have a chat and see if you’d be a good fit.

We are passionate about creating a diverse workforce and positively encourage applications from under-represented communities. We embrace equality of opportunity irrespective of disability, neurodivergence, ethnic origin, colour, nationality, gender and gender presentation, marital status, sexual orientation, culture or religion.
