Job Description
- Provide technical, supervisory, administrative, and professional engineering leadership.
- Lead complex, sometimes controversial, and advanced engineering projects.
- Supervise our Division 7 Engineering teams, projects, and programs.
- Lead as a supervisor and engineering program authority.
- Assist program leadership with admin duties such as planning, organizing, and managing daily operations, quality assurance, human resource management functions, and staff development.
- Provide technical expertise and supervision.
- Experience managing multiple engineering projects, including scheduling and directing multiple work crews.
- Skills applying your professional engineering skills and knowledge to troubleshoot and solve highway maintenance problems.
- Leadership skills managing meetings with employees, the public, and public officials to conduct investigations and resolve issues.
- Customer service experience related to solving problems involving explaining engineering concepts to customer groups.
- Experience supervising teams.
- Ability to read and interpret NCDOT mid-grade spot safety projects, determine appropriate material needs, and complete assigned projects within project completion date.
- Ability to accurately provide project cost estimates within budgetary constraints.
- Skills to interpret and manage the Highway Maintenance Improvement Program (HMIP) and Roadway Maintenance Improvement Program (RMIP) in factoring budget, existing maintenance staff, and future maintenance needs.
- A Drivers License.
- You will be subject to emergency call back or night/weekend workduring inclement weather/emergencies.
- We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
- Bachelors Degree in engineering, and
- 2+ years of relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
