Our communication consultants lead client engagements, from strategy and planning to execution of integrated communications campaigns. Our campaign work includes all aspects of digital and print communication, including building custom websites, creating personalized print materials, video, social media and everything in between. The Consultant serves as a lead or primary interface with clients and is a key member of the Communications team. The Consultant participates directly in writing, contributes input and creativity to enhance the quality of work products and supports the Practice’s revenue generating activities and intellectual capital. The Consultant also contributes to a work culture that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive.
This is the key role to our success and our clients’ success—understanding what our clients are trying to accomplish and contributing to creating the strategy and individual deliverables that form an effective marketing campaign. Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
- Serving as a lead or primary interface with clients and as a key member of Communications project teams providing support in writing, editing and/or proofreading communications, and in developing and producing employee benefits communications in both digital and print media.
- Planning, scoping, budgeting, resourcing, and managing multiple complex projects simultaneously that may involve extensive collaboration with colleagues in other areas.
- Collaborating with colleagues on revenue generating activities including marketing, Request for Proposals (RFPs), selling and other profitability growth initiatives including intellectual capital development.
- Performing as a subject matter expert – with an eye to relevant marketplace trends and developments – who provides technical advice and counsel to colleagues and clients on communications topics.
- Providing peer review of work produced by colleagues and helping to ensure the quality and consistency of all client deliverables.
- Supporting ad hoc assignments and initiatives as requested by the Practice.
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate has a journalism or writing background and 6+ years of employee benefits communications consulting experience at a Fortune 500 company, large HR consulting firm, benefits administrator or health plan.
You firmly believe that any good campaign is built on a solid strategy. You have the technical expertise to explain any nuance of a benefits plan. You have the creative communications and marketing expertise to get people to pay attention to that nuance. You understand how large organizations manage benefits and how to meet the needs of an over-stretched and under-pressure client. You’re inspired by the potential for employee communication to have a truly remarkable role in transforming people, our companies and our country and the world.

- Effective interpersonal and communication skills (oral / writing) along with ability to interact with a diverse audience of colleagues and clients and to employ active listening skills. The ability to establish credibility and trust at all levels within a client organization with effective interpersonal skills to positively present to and influence diverse audiences.
- Strong technical expertise to explain any nuance of a benefits plan and the creative communications and marketing expertise to draw attention to those nuances. An understanding of how large organizations manage benefits and how to meet the needs of our clients and to exceed their expectations.
- A passion for the potential for employee communications to have a truly remarkable role in transforming people and enhancing value for our clients.
- Creative skill with a dedication to continuous learning that includes contributing to the development of new methods, concepts and approaches to servicing clients and attracting new business.
- Superior writing, editing, verbal and web communication skills and experience with the ability to prioritize and deliver multiple projects concurrently and to partner with colleagues to solve problems and achieve success.
- Demonstrated revenue generating ability and project management skills to include planning, budgeting, overseeing and quality assuring delivery of work.
- Flexibility and agility and intense desire for quality.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to excellence with strong business acumen.
- Expert in MS Office applications
- Experience using Asana a plus

The current salary range for this position is $100,000 to $130,000 plus opportunity for a discretionary performance bonus based on company profitability and employee performance.
