Full-Time Community Engagement Coordinator

The ideal candidate for this position is strategic, energetic, and innovative. They have community organizing experience and a connection to the recovery community. This individual will bring strong organizational, outreach, relationship management, and planning skills and will serve as a driving force behind engaging the Kansas City community. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, comfortable with public speaking, and an excellent verbal and written communicator. Please note that this is a fixed 2-year role with a possibility of extension.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish new relationships with government, nonprofit, recovery-focused, fitness, entertainment, and like-minded organizations to grow the movement
  • Work closely with community partners, other staff, and volunteers to continue to build the Phoenix movement in Kansas City through organizing regular high- volume and high-impact events; some events may be on nights and/or weekends
  • Leverage partnerships and relationships; work with community leaders, organizations, businesses, and individuals to build and deepen relationships and trust to support volunteer-driven community efforts
  • Work within the community and across the organization to identify the best opportunities to engage new members, support programming, and grow the movement
  • Work across the organization to support the team, be innovative, and develop new ideas to increase impact; we have some great models that work well, but we need you to bring your best ideas too!
  • Complete other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of experience as an organizer, community leader, or similar professional
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Existing relationships and connections within the Kansas City region
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
  • Enthusiasm for working with multiple demographics and communities
  • Self-starter mindset, humility, and integrity

PREFERENCES

  • Lived experience as a peer in recovery
  • Experience with technology such as Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, Asana, Canva, etc.
  • Background in project or event management
  • Ability to speak multiple languages

BENEFITS AND SALARY

  • $50-$56,000 annually
  • Two-year fixed term with possibility of extension
  • 403(b) retirement plan with 4% match
  • Paid time off (vacation/sick days/skill enhancement days)
