We are committed to providing equal opportunities for everyone regardless of their background. We acknowledge that people from certain backgrounds are under-represented in the climate sector and we’re committed to doing what we can to correct this. We are particularly keen to receive applications from Black, Asian and minority ethnic people; people with disabilities; people who identify as being LGTBQIA; people who have a mental health condition; and people who identify as working-class or have done so in the past.

Unfortunately we are unable to sponsor visas so all applicants must have the right to work in the UK.

The Climate Coalition is the UK’s biggest group of people dedicated to action on climate change with a combined supporter base of more than 22 million people. We encompass over 130 organisations spanning nature, environment, international development, faith, community and women’s groups – from the National Trust to the NUS, WWF to the Women’s Institute, the RSPB to Islamic Relief.

We bring people from all walks of life together to use their voices to ask decision-makers to take urgent action to tackle climate change and protect what we love from its worst impacts. In the coming year, with an election on the horizon, we will be working with our members to mobilise networks and individuals in local communities to demonstrate the public mandate for urgent political action.

The Climate Coalition is coordinated by a small central secretariat team, working closely with colleagues from our member organisations.

The Coalition Coordinator plays a critical role to hold our coalition together, through building relationships with our member organisations and leading on member communications and events. The role-holder will also lead on our innovative new online tool, the Local Intelligence Hub, a data platform that helps members to co-ordinate and plan local activity based on constituency level data and insights.

This role is critical to the running of the organisation, with the opportunity to get involved in diverse campaigns and projects. It is a great opportunity to be at the heart of and get to know a diverse coalition of organisations acting together to create a cleaner, greener and healthier nation.

  • Lead on engagement, outreach and communications with our member organisations, both reactive and planned, including onboarding new members, and reviewing and improving systems as needed.
  • Organise, promote and facilitate regular All Coalition Meetings and Annual Movement Gatherings.
  • Overall responsibility for managing the Local Intelligence Hub project (online data hub providing climate-relevant data at a constituency level), including being the key contact with our external partner organisation who maintain and develop the hub, and keeping TCC members and staff involved and informed about the project as needed.
  • Support or lead on additional projects, campaign activities or events as required through the year.
  • Coordinate TCC’s political working group, working with the chair and convenor to organise meetings and away days, prepare the agenda and take minutes.
  • Support the communications team by sharing member news and campaigns, and drafting copy for resources and the website where needed.
  • Contribute to the effective operation of the organisation by taking on additional tasks and responsibilities as required.

  • Ability to build impactful and trusting relationships across different organisations and sectors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to disseminate high quality information to a large number of recipients by email and in presentations.
  • Experience of organising events (online and offline).
  • Proven ability to organise, host and facilitate meetings and support the work of committees / working groups, including setting agendas and taking minutes.
  • Proven ability to lead on the implementation of project plans.
  • Works well as part of a team, but also a self-starter that’s able to take initiative and lead on defined areas of responsibility.
  • Highly organised, with good attention to detail.
  • Passionate about tackling climate change and supportive of the aims of The Climate Coalition.

  • Understanding of the climate crisis and the role of public campaigning in addressing it.
  • Understanding of the value of data as a campaigning tool and experience of working with data platforms.
  • Understanding of the political context and how to engage effectively with politicians.
  • Working knowledge of Slack, Google Suite and other digital work tools.
