Job Summary
Constructs, erects, installs, or repairs structures and fixtures made of wood and all other substitute materials including partitions, joists, studding, and rafters; wood stairways, window and doorframes, floor coverings, and acoustical ceilings to ensure adequate, safe, and operable institutional facilities. Fills in as Trades Supervisor in their absence by assigning and managing work duties.
This position is not eligible for hybrid work and requires 100% onsite work.
Minimum Qualifications
1 High School Diploma and the completion of a registered apprenticeship program approved by the Department of Workforce Development as a Carpenter as defined on DWD website – https://dwd.wisconsin.gov/apprenticeship/trades/carpenter.htm
2 Minimum of four years of working experience as a Carpenter
3 Must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver license (or other such valid operator’s permit recognized by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation) and be able to meet or exceed the minimum requirements for driving on state business as detailed here: https://uwm.edu/risk-management/drivers/
4 Ability to lift and move 45 lbs. safely, and occasionally lift and move objects up to 65 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
1 Experience using TMA or any other electronic inventory control and work order system.
2 OSHA 10 training
3 Possess strong customer service skills.
4 Evidence of prior leadership or lead worker experience
5 Evidence of working in an institutional, university or similar environment
Target Salary Range
$48.41 (based on 100-hour leave rate) Final wage will depend on annual vacation election. The selected candidate will receive an additional $0.50/hour plus the hourly wage rate which corresponds to their annual vacation election.
