SEEKING BOARD MEMBERS
Addiction Services Central Ontario (ASCO) is a charitable, not-for-profit agency with its main office in Aurora (www.helpwithaddictions.ca). ASCO is one of the largest community addiction service providers in Ontario and is a lead agency for Ontario Health (Central Region) for addictions. Our mission, “Uniting to offer hope and promote recovery through outstanding service and innovation”, is what we live and breathe every day in all our work.
As an agency that works within a harm reduction framework, we offer individuals affected by addictions a number of programs and services: counselling treatment (individual and group); information, intake and referral; case management, peer support and some medical services. We serve a large geographic area from York Region to North York to the south and South Simcoe to the north.
Our Board Members are committed to the agency’s mission, vision and values and are voluntary. Board members are expected to participate in monthly Board meetings and at least one Board committee. A total of 5 – 8 hours per month is expected, including preparation for meetings.
ASCO is currently seeking individuals knowledgeable about York Region, South Simcoe and/or North York who are interested in joining our voluntary Board of Directors. We are looking for a broad range of experiences, more specifically, at this time, individuals from the Indigenous Community, the 2SLGBTQA+ Community and Racialized Communities including people with lived experience.
