NEW HIGHER SALARY: $36,682 – $64,194
 
The Challenge
We are looking for a skilled mechanic to join our Rowan County Equipment team.
 
In this role, you will:
    • Perform skilled mechanic work repairing and maintaining  gasoline/diesel powered automotive and heavy equipment.
    • Perform preventive maintenance, install/repair tires and tubes, wheels & rims, cranking systems, lighting systems, cooling systems, fuel systems, and hydraulic systems.
    • Prepare paperwork for employment, equipment repair, inventory, and service records.
    • Move parts and materials necessary to repair and maintain equipment.
    • Safely operate equipment for testing purposes.
 
What You Bring
    • A complete set of mechanic tools.
    • Experience performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on of 1+ of the following: light, medium, heavy duty, or farm equipment brake components.
    • Diagnostic experience of basic electrical systems and proper wiring repairs.
    • Basic hydraulic system repair experience, including component replacement and hoses.
    • Diagnostic software knowledge using tools and equipment for trucks and heavy equipment.
    • Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker (N) endorsement. (If you don’t have this, still apply.  You can get it within 360 days of hire through our on-the-job training program).
    • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
    • Safety toe shoes.
    • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
    • Strength to move parts and materials necessary to repair and maintain equipment.
    • Able to safely operate equipment for testing purposes.
    • Commitment to a safe working environment by leading by example.
    • Skills to read and interpret Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals.
 
Notes
    • You will be required to work during adverse weather, such as snow and/or ice, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc., that can lead to working extended daily hours, weekends, and holidays.
    • We will conduct a pre-employment drug screening and background check for your past 2 years about controlled substances and alcohol testing.
    • We may require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III, or Universal Technician.
 
Education & Experience
    • High School/GED diploma, and
    • 2+ years of relevant experience, or
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
