Full-Time Automotive Mechanic II – NEW HIGHER SALARY!

Job Description
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and rebuilds on gas, diesel, electric, and hybrid powered, light to heavy vehicles and equipment in the NCDOT fleet, including engines, electrical systems, power trains, wheels, tires, tracks, brakes (air, hydraulic and electrical), transmissions (manual, power shift, automatic), hydraulic systems, cooling systems, and snow removal equipment.
- Prepare new equipment for use across our 14 highway divisions, including installing bodies on truck chassis, brooms on wheel tractors, mowers on tractors, lights, reflectors, decals, or other safety devices, and hydraulic accessories.
- Experience performing automotive and light/heavy equipment repairs.
- Experience using techniques and methods to determine and solve mechanical, electrical and electronic problems.
- Demonstrated ability to use precision measuring devices and computer diagnostic equipment.
- Experience modifying equipment and installing after-market upgrades.
- Demonstrated ability to read and understand technical and instructional manuals, repair, and maintenance information from websites.
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License with “N” & “P” endorsements. (Don’t Have It? Still Apply! You can get it through our on-the-job training within 360 days of hire.)
- We may require current EPA certification as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician.
- High School/GED diploma, and
- 2+ years of relevant experience, or
- A combination of education and experience.
