Full-Time Associate Director of Student Care and Community Standards

Clark College is currently accepting applications for a full-time, exempt Associate Director of Student Care and Community Standards responsible for the overall operations of Student Conduct, the CARE Team, Behavioral Intervention and Threat Assessment (BITA) functions, and the Student Complaint process. Reporting to the Dean of Student Engagement, this position ensures all meetings and processes are documented in Advocate, our student incident reporting system. This role provides guidance regarding values and standards, which integrate students’ rights, responsibilities, and expectations to foster a healthy, safe, and inclusive learning environment. This position will adjudicate student conduct hearings and carry out responsibilities related to case management with a desire to challenge, support, and develop students. The Associate Director will remain current and trained on standards and best practices, emerging strategies and interventions, and research at the local, state, federal, and international levels, supporting the reduction of threats to Clark College community and connecting students of concern to the supports necessary to enable their retention and success.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Supervise and manage the College judicial process and the student Code of Conduct primarily associated with incidents generated from campus security and instruction.
• Process incoming alleged disciplinary violations and ensure Code of Student Conduct provisions are met by maintaining and documenting processes in student conduct e-files.
• In accordance with the student disciplinary procedures, conduct meetings with students regarding alleged violations of student conduct policies and work with the Dean of Student Engagement on high-level violations.
• Carry out investigation of alleged conduct violations in accordance with the Code of Student Conduct, and make case decisions and communicate decisions and sanctions to students.
• Interact with parents, students and others requiring involvement with confidential and sensitive issues and situations.
• Maintain student conduct database, including files on all disciplinary cases, input student data, and track sanctions; compile statistical data and assist in monthly and annual reports as required by policy and law; then, review and analyze data to make informed decisions and recommendations regarding programming, policies and procedures.
• Maintain the regulations of FERPA and student rights and responsibilities. Understand and abide by the mandates of the Campus Security and CLERY Act.
• Oversee additions, changes, deletions, revisions, etc., to the student Code of Conduct within the College Student Handbook and the State of Washington Administrative Codes (WAC).
• Lead the campus CARE Team and Behavioral Intervention and Threat Assessment process (BITA) designed to address students of concern in the areas of health and safety.
• Mobilize team to develop an intervention and response plan and coordinate the implementation of plan through completion.
• Champion student success and retention by meeting with students to assess needs, and provide resources or referrals to other college and community resources as appropriate.
• Consult with the Dean of Student Engagement, Security, Counseling and Health Center, Disability Support Services, Risk Management, Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and other appropriate college staff or faculty to identify possible interventions or responses.
• Serve as case manager for students referred to CARE Team, tracking student care and providing necessary support.
• Assist with coordinating and presenting educational trainings and workshops for members of the college community.
• Participate in leadership meetings and engage in student success and retention initiatives.
• Enhance, evaluate and continually update Community Standards, Complaint process; CARE/Behavioral Intervention Team internal and external web site information.
• Work collaboratively with the Dean of Student Engagement to implement strategic initiatives related to student success.
• May supervise non-paid intern.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Two (2) years of demonstrated experience in case management. At least one (1) year experience with student conduct investigations and adjudicative hearings, or similar investigative and adjudicative hearings experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in program development using racial equity framework. Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
• Knowledge of student development, restorative justice practices and student conduct programs.
• Excellent verbal, listening, writing, problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills and experience working successfully in a team dynamic.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with conflict resolution, de-escalation, and crisis management.
• Proficiency in case management software and performing work in databases.
• Experience providing trainings to college employees.
• Multilingual.
Salary Statement: $60,768 annually
