Full-Time Assistant Professor, Nursing

Job Description

SALARY:                                     $39,756 – $54,829

LOCATION:                                 Niceville Campus

FLSA STATUS:                            Exempt

Duties and Responsibilities                                                                                                            

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Fulfill contractional obligations for full instructional load during fall and spring semesters.
  • Provide excellence in instruction within the Nursing program for undergraduate students, including classroom and clinical (ASN) and/or online (BSN) courses.
  • Assist in development and evaluation of curriculum as appropriate.
  • Utilize approved textbook(s) and/or other instructional materials as approved.
  • Collaborate with administration, faculty, and staff to ensure student success.
  • Provide regular and timely student feedback, guidance, and support.
  • Engage in institutional service, professional development, and other duties as assigned by the Nursing Program Director or Chair, the Dean of Health Sciences, Public Safety, and Education, and/or the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
  • Attend faculty meetings and participate in department committees.
  • Participate in the annual commencement program.
  • Complete annual mandatory compliance training.

Qualifications                                                                                                                                   

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (must be currently working towards a Master of Science in Nursing degree) or Master of Science in Nursing.
  • Active, unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Florida required (may be a compact license under Nurse License Compact [NLC]).
  • Two years full time experience in clinical practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • Clinical expertise in the assigned instructional area.
  • Demonstrated evidence of professional development growth through participation in continuing education and other related activities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Nursing OR doctorate in a closely related field (including an EdD) with a master’s in nursing.
  • Teaching experience in a Nursing Program.
  • Teaching experience in the simulation setting.
  • Demonstrated experience with teaching technologies, including lecture-capture software and familiarity with web-conferencing software to facilitate synchronous online student support.
  • Experience in student engagement techniques.
