Assistant Professor, Family Studies and Human Development (Tenure-stream appointment)

The School of Behavioural and Social Sciences at Brescia University College invites applications for a tenure-stream appointment in Family Studies and Human Development, specializing in youth and childhood, at the Assistant Professor level beginning July 1, 2023. The successful candidate will have or be near completion of a PhD in Child and Youth Studies, Family Studies, Human Development, or a related field.

The successful candidate will contribute to course and program development. The ability to contribute toward goals such as Child and Youth Care Educational Accreditation and membership in organizations such as the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care is desirable. We are seeking candidates with a strong commitment to excellent undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts environment and a dedication to collaborating with undergraduates in research. Candidates must be able to teach a variety of courses in Family Studies and Human Development at the undergraduate level. The candidate should be committed to continuous improvement in pedagogy, as indicated by, for example, participation in Scholarship for Teaching and Learning (SoTL) workshops, conferences, and/or pedagogical research.
Faculty members at Brescia are expected to be active researchers and to participate in departmental and university committees and activities. Each academic year, the successful candidate will teach three courses in one term and two in the other. The successful candidate will also have a well-defined research agenda, including a record of publications and an independent program of research that can involve undergraduates.
