Assistant Lecturer for the SOAR Program

Ball State University

 

The Miller College of Business has a contract faculty position available beginning August 2022. The Assistant Lecturer will instruct online and on-campus courses in the Miller College SOAR (Success, Opportunity, Acumen, and Readiness) program and collaborate with the Undergraduate Programs Office on other college initiatives and activities focusing on preparing students for career and educational success and increased student enrollment and retention.

Position Function:

  • Teach SOAR classes (MCOB 100, 200, 300) focusing on student support and engagement;
  • Collaborate with supervisor to ensure SOAR course content stays up-to-date and effective;
  • Coordinate with supervisor on student retention activities such as New Student Orientation, Welcome Week, and other student engagement activities;
  • Collaborate with Career Center and other student support service areas to ensure effective integration and adaptation of their offerings for business students;
  • Support SOAR program guest speakers to ensure that they are able to present for classes successfully;
  • Share course and student statistics for semester/annual reporting;
  • Other duties as needed.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited institution; 3 years undergraduate-teaching experience

 

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Five years of undergraduate teaching experience
