JOB FAMILY DESCRIPTION
The Application Support Engineer III will install applications, troubleshoot software and deploy code on behalf of the development te ams. Responsible for deploying the release of new technologies as well as the design, installation, configuration, maintenance and system integration testing performance of Windows server operating systems, related utilities and hardware.
GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
* Installs, maintains and upgrades internal software systems used for designing and developing company products.Builds servers post receiving clone of gold master, installs applications, deploys code and troubleshoots application issues.
* Controls user access and passwords.
* Proposes and implements systems enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the system.
* Monitors usage and performance.
* Trains personnel on system usage.
* Troubleshoots Wintel server, software and hardware issues.
* Isolates and resolves complex problems and utilizes appropriate diagnostic tools.
* Assists with recommending, scheduling and implementing system hardware and/or software upgrades or repairs.
* Researches, evaluates and recommends software products.
* Maintains a secure systems environment.
* Provides new server specifications to users based on application needs and anticipated growth.
* Performs logs, audits, and other security related duties in Windows platforms.
* Performs other duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL GUIDELINES
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
* Experience in Wintel Server and System (Win2K8/12/16) administration and deployment
* Experience in Windows Application Support
* Knowledge of Windows operating systems and related utilities and hardware
* Skill in software troubleshooting, installation and maintenance
* Knowledge of VM ESX Vcenter console
* Knowledge of Active Directory
* Experience in Powershell or other scripting languages a plus
* Knowledge of Unix or Linux based systems (Redhat, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc) a plus
* Knowledge of Azure or AWS a plus
* Knowledge of Terminal Services or Citrix a plus
* Knowledge in performance tuning
* Knowledge of storage management
* Knowledge of TCP/IP, load balancing technologies, DFS, and/or clustering
* Understands Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery
* Knowledge of technical writing principles and practices
* Skill to effectively analyze and solve problems
* Ability to work independently as well as with a team
* Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, vendors, clients and public
* Ability to estimate, plan, manage, and communicate activities/deliverables of a mid-size project plan
* Ability to analyze information and formulate conclusions and recommendations
* Ability to plan and execute a platform change with minimal disruption in service to clients
