Primary Purpose:

To provide strategic internal consulting services and analytical and technical expertise in the areas of organizational effectiveness, employee motivation and morale, employee retention, personnel selection strategies, job analysis, job design/redesign, job evaluation, performance measurement, statistical analysis and skills assessment across business units.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple projects that require significant client contact, project planning and coordination and supervision of other staff.
  • Independently plan and conduct applied research projects, including appropriate research methods and sampling plan, job and needs analysis, data collection strategies, statistical techniques and project documentation.
  • Use a needs assessment model to solve critical organizational problems.
  • Perform statistical analyses and makes recommendations on complex issues such as determining appropriate survey sampling strategies, selection system design, mitigating adverse impact and selecting test cut scores.
  • Conduct evaluation of a variety of HR programs, including employee attitudes and morale, employee retention, testing, skills gap interventions and training interventions.
  • Provide expert counsel and testimony regarding professional testing standards and legal constraints.
  • Develop assessment, testing and scoring techniques to evaluate employee competencies.
  • Make oral and written presentation to management staff.
  • Provide training to both internal staff members and client staff on test administration including paper and pencil tests, physical ability tests, assessment exercises and structured interviews.
  • Perform other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Business or other social science, or equivalent education and experience.
  • 2 years of related experience.
  • Requires exceptional innovation and conceptual thinking skills to analyze complex problems and propose solutions, often involving both technical and operational constraints.
  • Possesses strong team and client focus, must earn the trust and respect of client subject matter experts, must demonstrate leadership skills to effectively manage projects and client relationships.
  • Requires strong mathematical, statistical, and analytic skills to apply and interpret descriptive and inferential statistics.
  • Must be skilled in communicating with others, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be capable of communicating complex technical information to business audience.
  • Professional level knowledge of human resources, job analysis, survey techniques, test validation techniques, assessment methodology and needs analysis.
  • Competency and computer tools for data analysis, report preparation presentations and data handling required.
  • Position requires advanced level of knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding testing.
  • Knowledge of professional testing standards.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of employee and candidate information.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Business or other social science.
  • Society of Industrial Organizational Psychology membership is preferred.
  • Experience in applied research role in industry or public sector employment setting.
