Full-Time Senior Manager of Inclusive Design ( (Grantmaking Portfolio), Education

Our Education team brings together a diverse set of technologists, grant-makers, strategists and former teachers. All of us are here compelled to build a future for everyone.
You will make and manage grants under our inclusive design portfolio. Your portfolio is focused on shifting traditional power dynamics and working to support community-proximate organizations. The organizations funded through your portfolio are developing diverse and antiracist education leaders and building capacity in the areas of race equity and DEI in education.
You will also partner with peer funders to pilot practices informed by and aligned to participatory grantmaking. Key to this approach is an ability to learn earnestly from others and center the experience of our grantees and communities when crafting strategies and outcomes.
Our ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about diversity, equity and inclusion and has successfully managed scaled change efforts toward greater equitable outcomes.
This role is based at our Redwood City HQ office (based remotely until Sep 2021 and SIP is lifted) and will report into our Director, Inclusive Design.
You will
- Build and maintain trusting relationships with senior leaders and key stakeholders across the leadership pipeline and race equity in education spaces
- Implement inclusive design principles to develop internal models and support team-wide adoption; lift up lessons across larger CZI team
- Generate and shepherd inclusive design grant recommendations
- Develop new and manage existing grantee relationships
- Collaborate with capital supports manager to provide infrastructure support and additional tools beyond grants to support grantee goals and growth trajectories
- Research and scope out new opportunities for the inclusive design grants portfolio
- Build and apply structured frameworks to evaluate programmatic decisions
- Support other inclusive design team functions, namely capacity building and learning
- Represent CZI in outward-facing relationships with partner organizations and co-funders
You have
- 7+ years of professional experience in education or equivalent experience in related fields
- Consistent track record to make decisions in fluid environments with limited information
- Strong inclusive design and racial consciousness content understanding
- Successful experience managing a budget and advocating for resources
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication with the ability to build positive relationships easily and with authenticity at all levels of the organization and external stakeholders
- Excellent project management capabilities: you are able to lead multiple, sophisticated work streams and prioritize projects concurrently
- Relationships, experience, and familiarity within the education space is required
- Experience in school systems, and/or education philanthropy is a plus
