POSITION SUMMARY

The Data Coordinator supports the 211 Data & Reporting Director in advancing the organization’s strategic data vision and operational reporting needs across the 211 Utah State system. Working collaboratively with the Data & Reporting Director, Operations Director, Technology & Systems Director, and 211 leadership teams, this role is responsible for supporting data management, reporting, analytics, data quality, visualization, Customer First Measurements, and systems optimization efforts that strengthen organizational decision-making and service delivery. This position helps transform operational data into actionable insights that improve both organizational performance and partner success across the statewide provider network.

The Data Coordinator plays a critical role in maintaining accurate, secure, and actionable data across 211 Utah systems and platforms. This position assists in developing reports, dashboards, workflows, and analytics that support organizational goals, grant reporting, operational improvements, Community Information Exchange (CIE) initiatives, and statewide partnerships. The Data Coordinator also serves as a technical resource for data systems, supports emerging technology initiatives, and helps ensure that data is translated into meaningful insights that demonstrate the impact of 211 Utah services.

The Data Coordinator also plays a key role in helping 211 Utah and its partner network improve community outcomes by identifying opportunities to increase successful referrals and overall needs met. Through data analysis, partner reporting, and continuous performance monitoring, this position helps providers better understand service gaps, referral effectiveness, customer outcomes, and opportunities to improve the percentage of client needs successfully resolved. The role serves as a bridge between data and action by providing partners with meaningful insights that strengthen service delivery and collective community impact. This role works under the direction of the Data & Reporting Director and serves as a key contributor to the implementation of the department’s data strategy, reporting framework, and continuous quality improvement efforts.

PRIMARY TASK

Supports the reporting, analytics, and data management needs for the 211 department at United Way of Salt Lake while assisting the Data & Reporting Director with strategic and cross-departmental initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Reporting & Data Analytics Support

  1. Facilitate monthly organizational report audits and quality checks for Salesforce reporting systems.
  2. Prepare reports, dashboards, charts, graphs, narratives, and visualizations for internal leadership, partners, boards, and public-facing communications.
  3. Support Data Director in analyzing data for annual impact reports, grants, contracts, funders, and operational reporting needs.
  4. Analyze referral completion and needs met trends to identify opportunities for 211 Utah and partner organizations to improve customer outcomes.
  5. Support the generation and maintenance of standard and ad-hoc reports to ensure timely and accurate delivery of actionable insights.
  6. Run call statistics, monitor trends, and review operational data to help improve service delivery, caller experience, and service navigator performance.
  7. Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends, answer operational questions, and support data-informed decision-making.
  8. Extract key findings from data sets and communicate insights clearly to stakeholders with varying levels of technical expertise.
  9. Assist with maintaining publicly accessible dashboards and organizational reporting tools.
  10. Support the maintenance of reporting metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) for departmental and organizational use.

Partner Performance & Community Impact

  1. Monitor statewide provider performance using key outcome measures including needs met, referral completion, customer engagement, and service accessibility.
  2. Identify trends that improve partner effectiveness and increase successful client outcomes across the provider network.
  3. Collaborate with community partners to develop measurable improvement plans that increase needs met outcomes and reduce service gaps.
  4. Support the evaluation of Community Information Exchange and closed loop referral initiatives by measuring partner participation, referral completion, and customer outcomes.
  5. Prepare partner scorecards and community impact reports that communicate progress toward shared goals and identify opportunities for improvement.
  6. Recommend process improvements based on data analysis that strengthen coordinated care and improve the customer experience.
  7. Assist leadership in evaluating new partnerships and technologies that expand community capacity and increase successful service connections.

Data Management & Data Quality

  1. Support efforts to streamline and optimize data collection, validation, and reporting processes to improve accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
  2. Conduct regular data quality reviews and validation checks to ensure data completeness and integrity across systems.
  3. Utilize SQL, Python, Excel, and related tools for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  4. Develop and maintain documentation for data assets, including field definitions, metadata, and reporting logic to support organizational knowledge-sharing and AI-readiness.
  5. Support provider-side database management and data-related requests for Service Navigation Managers and operational teams.
  6. Identify opportunities for continuous data quality improvement, including resource and call-level data enhancements.
  7. Monitor data quality standards that ensure accurate measurement of referral outcomes, needs met rates, and partner performance across integrated systems.

Systems & Technical Support

  1. Have foundational understanding of the organization’s data architecture and integrated systems environment.
  2. Utilize Microsoft analytics tools, like Power BI, to support reporting and visualization efforts.
  3. Create workflow diagrams and process documentation using Microsoft Visio and related tools.
  4. Maintain a working knowledge of Salesforce configuration, including permission sets, flows, page layouts, credential management, and digital experience fields.
  5. Support ongoing updates and enhancements for the 211 and DHHS websites as needed.
  6. Develop a working knowledge of telephony systems, including IVR/IVA configuration and reporting.
  7. Assist in developing AI driven reporting and analytical tools that help identify opportunities to improve customer outcomes, provider engagement, and community collaboration.
  8. Provide basic technical support, including password resets, hardware troubleshooting, and system navigation assistance.
  9. Support project coordination and task management efforts through Asana.
  10. Serve as a subject matter expert (“super user”) for provider database systems and related workflows.
  11. Maintain awareness of emerging AI tools, data technologies, and industry trends to improve operational efficiency and workflow optimization.

Collaboration, Training & Stakeholder Support

  1. Conduct bi-weekly meetings with Service Navigation Managers to review performance metrics, identify anomalies, and communicate trends and expectations.
  2. Support the Data & Reporting Director in building organizational capacity around data literacy, reporting tools, and data-informed decision-making.
  3. Assist team members and partners in accessing, analyzing, and understanding qualitative and quantitative information.
  4. Translate complex data concepts into clear and actionable information for a variety of audiences.
  5. Participate in internal and external data committees, meetings, and collaborative initiatives as assigned.
  6. Assist partners in interpreting dashboards and performance reports to support continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  7. Assist in establishing consistent data definitions and reporting standards across partner organizations to enable accurate, comparable, and trustworthy shared reporting.
  8. Participate in cross-organizational data committees and working groups, helping translate partner needs into reporting solutions that advance collective impact.
  9. Support the integration of qualitative insights from clients, providers, and community partners into reporting and evaluation efforts.
  10. Partner with Service Navigation Team to ensure reporting reflects a customer-first lens, measuring not just operational throughput but the quality and outcomes of each interaction with partner agencies.

Emergency Response Support

  1. Support 211 emergency response efforts through reporting, data tracking, and operational analytics during emergency or disaster situations.
  2. Assist with resource utilization tracking and reporting during emergency response events.
  3. Be prepared to support the Service Navigation Team during high call-volume or emergency events as needed.
  4. Participate in fire, emergency preparedness, and disaster response trainings and drills.
  5. Maintain awareness of disaster protocols and reporting procedures relevant to the role.
  6. Attend staff briefings and support operational communication efforts during emergency incidents.
  7. Provide additional emergency-focused duties and operational support as assigned.
  8. Help 211 Operations Director and maintain contact with affected county(s) representatives
  9. The Data & Reporting Director will also perform other emergency-focused duties as assigned.
  10. Provide assistance during emergency or disaster situations

The Data Coordinator also assists with other duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, Computer Science, Public Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Three years of experience in data analysis, reporting, visualization, or related analytical work.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Domo required.
  • Experience with Salesforce reporting and analytics preferred.
  • Experience using SQL and/or Python for data extraction and analysis preferred.
  • Experience working with relational databases, data warehousing concepts, and complex spreadsheets.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
  • Experience creating workflow diagrams and process documentation using Visio or similar tools preferred.
  • Experience supporting data governance, privacy, and security practices preferred.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to improve workflows and operational efficiency preferred.
  • Experience with survey design, data collection, and analysis preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The team member is regularly required to communicate clearly, and exchange accurate information interpersonally or through communication devices. Must be able to learn new systems and procedures, prepare and analyze data and figures, constantly operate a computer and other standard office machinery. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time. The position requires occasional movement on- and offsite to participate and/or present in meetings. Must be able to move light items such as paper, laptops and presentation materials up to 25lbs.

The employee is required to work primarily in-person, in our UP offices during core business hours Monday – Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Fridays. Utah’s Promise is currently piloting a 36-hour work week with Friday afternoons off.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The position is a full-time, exempt position with full benefits. $51,707 – 63,197. UWSL/UP provides a wide range of benefits, including:
