Job Description
Primary Duties/Brief Description of Work:
The Maintenance Tech (Electrical) position is an entry level position that will assist and work under the supervision of the electrical mechanic and/or the supervisor. The employee will assist with the electrical installation, construction, troubleshooting, repairs, renovations and the maintaining of facilities. This employee should have a working knowledge of the electrical field and have a working knowledge of the hand tools and power tools associated with this job (i.e. Hammer drills, reciprocating saw, hand band saw, multi meters and a conduit threading machine). The person in this position should have some knowledge of building and construction materials, building repairs and how mechanical equipment operates and functions. The employee should have the ability and knowledge to learn, understand and comply with applicable local and state building and industry standards and OSHA policies and procedures. The selected applicant should have the ability to read and understand blueprints and the ability to operate a computer for their work orders; some knowledge of Card Access Systems would be a plus. This individual should be able to follow written and verbal instructions. The employee must be able to obtain a Local City Journeyman’s Card within one year of employment to remain in this position. The physical duties of the job include bending, stooping, standing, walking, kneeling, climbing ladders, pushing, pulling, reaching and lifting up to 50 lbs. The job is NON-EXEMPT under FLSA.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Driver’s License
- High School Diploma/GED with 1–3 years of electrical construction experience (must be clearly indicated on application)
- “OR” No High School Diploma/GED with 5-7 years of electrical construction experience (must be clearly indicated on application)
- Experience using electrical hand tools
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with additional trades (Carpentry, Plumbing, or HVAC)
- Experience using computers, iPads, and/or general office equipment
- Experience with building systems and construction materials
- Experience with card access systems
