Grant Writer

Part-Time, Contractor, Remote

$22/hour; 8 – 10 hours/week

Department of Clients Services

Benvenuti Arts is seeking an experienced Grant Writer to join our team. The Grant Writer will report to the Associate Director of Education under the Client Services department.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Writing grants in an efficient and timely manner, and collaborating with Consultants to ensure complete, well-written assignments are shared with clients;
  • Participating in the creation and maintenance of Boilerplate language for clients;
  • Maintaining active communications with fellow team members (as soon as possible turnaround) via Slack, email, Asana, and other software;
  • Research around fundraising prospects, strategies, and other administrative needs the client might have as it pertains to grant writing and reporting;
  • Attending monthly Staff meetings, Department meetings, educational trainings and other gatherings including Company Retreat;
  • Other needs as they arise.

At Benvenuti Arts, it’s important that our staff members approach each client relationship individually, finding solutions for them that fit their unique needs and situation. In working with small and mighty arts organizations, we seek to find creative opportunities that make the most of their limited time and resources. Therefore, our Grant Writer must be inquisitive, creative, flexible, and show great initiative in how they interact with their Associate Consultant or Consultant to advise our clients.

While we are open to a variety of different backgrounds, an ideal candidate would have:

  • 3 to 5 years experience working in an arts organization (regional theater, community theater, internships, arts administration, etc.) in any capacity (does not have to be grant writing);
  • Grant writing experience for fundraising opportunities;
  • Knowledge of art forms/disciplines and nonprofit organization structures;
  • An ability to multitask and self-identify priorities;
  • An ability to maintain organization in multi-user project management platforms such as Asana;
  • A natural inclination to “self start”;
  • An ability to work independently, while still part of a team; and
  • A clear commitment to the values of Benvenuti Arts and a passion for small arts organizations across the world.

This position is Part-Time Contractor status, with the possibility of moving to an employee status and a $25 rate after a three month review, if staff meets expectations. We are a fully remote company, so the Grant Writer must be prepared to manage their own schedule and coordinate with team members working in different time zones. This position offers:

  • Pay of $22/hour as a contractor, which will be sent every 2 weeks.
  • 8 – 10 hours/week starting schedule.
  • A start date May 18, 2026, but we are open to negotiating this date.

Interviews will take place between April 20 to 29, 2026. We will hold one round of interviews with Deputy Director Julie Hord, Associate Director of Education Candace Tabbs, and Founder and CEO Sarah Benvenuti. Anyone interviewed but not hired will be paid $22/interview for their time. Those who advance past the interview will be required to complete a one-hour writing exercise, for which they will also be paid for their time.

Onboarding Plan:

  • Grant Writer will onboard in May/June, with training internally and meetings with consultants to learn about potential clients for whom they will write. Trainings will include general subjects in arts management as well as individual client deep dives.
  • Grant Writer will shadow lead consultants for 4 to 6 months on clients. They will do the bulk of the out-of-meeting work, including but not limited to grant writing and boilerplate updating, under the oversight and direction of the lead consultant.
  • Lead Consultant(s) will edit all of the Grant Writer’s assignments.
  • In early August, 2026, the Grant Writer will have a 3-month review where onboarding metrics, pay rate, and transition to employee status will be discussed.
  • In early November, 2026, the Grant Writer will have a 6-month review, where performance and client-specific project management and rapport will be discussed.
